Isaiah 58
“ Cry 2 Lift up your voice like a trumpet! 1 Declare to my people their disobedience, 2 and to the house of Jacob their sins. 1
Yet 2 and delight to know my ways. 1 As a nation that did righteousness, 2 and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God, 1 they ask of me righteous judgements. 2 They delight to draw near to God. 1
‘ Why 2 Why have we afflicted our soul, and you don’t notice?’ 1 “ Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, 2 and oppress all your labourers. 1
Behold 2 and to strike with the fist of wickedness. 2 You don’t fast today so as to make your voice to be heard on high. 1
Is 2 A day for a man to humble his soul? 1 Is it to bow down his head like a reed, 2 and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself? 1 Will you call this a fast, 2 and an acceptable day to the LORD? 1
“Isn’t this 2 to release the bonds of wickedness, 2 to undo the straps of the yoke, 2 to let the oppressed go free, 2 and that you break every yoke? 1
Isn’t it 2 and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? 1 When you see the naked, 2 that you cover him; 2 and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh? 1
Then 2 and your healing will appear quickly; 1 then your righteousness shall go before you, 2 and the LORD’s glory will be your rear guard. 1
Then 2 You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘ Here I am.’ 1 “ If you take away from amongst you the yoke, 2 finger pointing, 2 and speaking wickedly; 1
and 2 and satisfy the afflicted soul, 1 then your light will rise in darkness, 2 and your obscurity will be as the noonday; 1
and 2 satisfy your soul in dry places, 2 and make your bones strong. 1 You will be like a watered garden, 2 and like a spring of water 2 whose waters don’t fail. 1
Those 2 You will raise up the foundations of many generations. 1 You will be called Repairer of the Breach, 2 Restorer of Paths with Dwellings. 1
“If you 2 from doing your pleasure on my holy day, 1 and call the Sabbath a delight, 2 and the holy of the LORD honourable, 2 and honour it, 2 not doing your own ways, 2 nor finding your own pleasure, 2 nor speaking your own words, 1
then 2 and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth, 2 and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father;” 2 for the LORD’s mouth has spoken it.
