Jeremiah 12
You 2 when I contend with you; 1 yet I would like to plead a case with you. 2 Why does the way of the wicked prosper? 2 Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously? 1
You 2 They grow. Yes, they produce fruit. 1 You are near in their mouth, 2 and far from their heart. 1
But 2 You see me, and test my heart towards you. 1 Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, 2 and prepare them for the day of slaughter. 1
How 2 and the herbs of the whole country wither? 1 Because of the wickedness of those who dwell therein, 2 the animals and birds are consumed; 1 because they said, 2 “ He won’t see our latter end.” 1
“ If 2 and they have wearied you, 2 then how can you contend with horses? 1 Though in a land of peace you are secure, 2 yet how will you do in the pride of the Jordan? 1
For 2 even they have dealt treacherously with you! 2 Even they have cried aloud after you! 1 Don’t believe them, 2 though they speak beautiful words to you. 1
“ I 2 I have cast off my heritage. 2 I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies. 1
My 2 She has uttered her voice against me. 2 Therefore I have hated her. 1
Is 2 Are the birds of prey against her all around? 1 Go, assemble all the animals of the field. 2 Bring them to devour. 1
Many 2 They have trodden my portion under foot. 2 They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. 1
They 2 It mourns to me, being desolate. 1 The whole land is made desolate, 2 because no one cares. 1
Destroyers 2 for the sword of the LORD devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. 2 No flesh has peace. 1
They 2 and have reaped thorns. 1 They have exhausted themselves, 2 and profit nothing. 1 You will be ashamed of your fruits, 2 because of the LORD’s fierce anger.”
