2“ Declare 2 and set up a standard; 2 publish, and don’t conceal; 1 say, ‘Babylon has been taken, 2 Bel is disappointed, 2 Merodach is dismayed! 1 Her images are disappointed. 2 Her idols are dismayed.’ 1
3For 2 which will make her land desolate, 2 and no one will dwell in it. 1 They have fled. 2 They are gone, 2 both man and animal. 1
4“ In 2 “ the children of Israel will come, 2 they and the children of Judah together; 1 they will go on their way weeping, 2 and will seek the LORD their God. 1
5They 2 saying, ‘Come, and join yourselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant 2 that will not be forgotten.’ 1
6My 2 Their shepherds have caused them to go astray. 1 They have turned them away on the mountains. 2 They have gone from mountain to hill. 2 They have forgotten their resting place. 1
7All 2 Their adversaries said, ‘ We are not guilty, 1 because they have sinned against the LORD, 2 the habitation of righteousness, 2 even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.’ 1
8“ Flee 2 Go out of the land of the Chaldeans, 2 and be as the male goats before the flocks. 1
9For 2 and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country; 2 and they will set themselves in array against her. 1 She will be taken from there. 2 Their arrows will be as of an expert mighty man. 2 None of them will return in vain. 1
10Chaldea 2 All who prey on her will be satisfied,” says the LORD. 1
11“ Because 2 because you rejoice, 1 O you who plunder my heritage, 2 because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain, 2 and neigh as strong horses, 1
12your 2 She who bore you will be confounded. 1 Behold, she will be the least of the nations, 2 a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert. 1
13Because 2 but she will be wholly desolate. 1 Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, 2 and hiss at all her plagues. 1
14Set 2 all you who bend the bow; 2 shoot at her. 1 Spare no arrows, 2 for she has sinned against the LORD. 1
15Shout 2 She has submitted herself. 2 Her bulwarks have fallen. 1 Her walls have been thrown down, 2 for it is the vengeance of the LORD. 1 Take vengeance on her. 2 As she has done, do to her. 1
16Cut 2 and him who handles the sickle in the time of harvest. 1 For fear of the oppressing sword, 2 they will each return to their own people, 2 and they will each flee to their own land. 1
17“ Israel 2 The lions have driven him away. 1 First, the king of Assyria devoured him, 2 and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.”
18Therefore 1 “ Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, 2 as I have punished the king of Assyria. 1
19I 2 and he will feed on Carmel and Bashan. 2 His soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead. 1
20In 2 “ the iniquity of Israel will be sought for, 2 and there will be none, 1 also the sins of Judah, 2 and they won’t be found; 2 for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant. 1
21“ Go 2 even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. 1 Kill and utterly destroy after them,” says the LORD, 2 “ and do according to all that I have commanded you. 1

30Therefore 2 All her men of war will be brought to silence in that day,” says the LORD. 1
31“ Behold 2 “ for your day has come, 2 the time that I will visit you. 1
32The 2 and no one will raise him up. 1 I will kindle a fire in his cities, 2 and it will devour all who are around him.” 1
33The 2 All who took them captive hold them fast. 2 They refuse to let them go. 1
34Their 2 The LORD of Armies is his name. 1 He will thoroughly plead their cause, 2 that he may give rest to the earth, 2 and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon. 1
35“ A 2 “ and on the inhabitants of Babylon, 2 on her princes, 2 and on her wise men. 1
36A 2 and they will become fools. 1 A sword is on her mighty men, 2 and they will be dismayed. 1
37A 2 on their chariots, 2 and on all the mixed people who are in the middle of her; 2 and they will become as women. 1 A sword is on her treasures, 2 and they will be robbed. 1
38A 2 and they will be dried up; 1 for it is a land of engraved images, 2 and they are mad over idols. 1
39Therefore 2 with the wolves will dwell there. 1 The ostriches will dwell therein. 2 It will be inhabited no more forever, 2 neither will it be lived in from generation to generation. 1
40As 2 “ so no man will dwell there, 2 neither will any son of man live therein. 1
41“ Behold 2 A great nation and many kings will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 1
42They 2 They are cruel, and have no mercy. 2 Their voice roars like the sea. 1 They ride on horses, 2 everyone set in array, 2 as a man to the battle, 2 against you, daughter of Babylon. 1
43The 2 and his hands become feeble. 1 Anguish has taken hold of him, 2 pains as of a woman in labour. 1
44Behold 2 from the thickets of the Jordan against the strong habitation; 2 for I will suddenly make them run away from it. 1 Whoever is chosen, 2 I will appoint him over it, 2 for who is like me? 1 Who will appoint me a time? 2 Who is the shepherd who can stand before me?” 1
45Therefore 2 that he has taken against Babylon; 1 and his purposes 2 that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: 1 Surely they will drag them away, 2 even the little ones of the flock. 2 Surely he will make their habitation desolate over them. 1
46The 2 The cry is heard amongst the nations.
