After

Job answered 1

“Let the 2 the night which said, ‘ There is a boy conceived.’ 1

Let 2 Don’t let God from above seek for it, 2 neither let the light shine on it. 1

Let 2 Let a cloud dwell on it. 2 Let all that makes the day black terrify it. 1

As 2 Let it not rejoice amongst the days of the year. 2 Let it not come into the number of the months. 1

Behold 2 Let no joyful voice come therein. 1

Let them 2 who are ready to rouse up leviathan. 1

Let 2 Let it look for light, but have none, 2 neither let it see the eyelids of the morning, 1

because 2 nor did it hide trouble from my eyes. 1

“ Why 2 Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me? 1

Why 2 Or why the breast, that I should nurse? 1

For 2 I should have slept, then I would have been at rest, 1

with 2 who built up waste places for themselves; 1

or 2 who filled their houses with silver; 1

or 2 as infants who never saw light. 1

There 2 There the weary are at rest. 1

There the 2 They don’t hear the voice of the taskmaster. 1

The 2 The servant is free from his master. 1

“ Why 2 life to the bitter in soul, 1

who long 2 and dig for it more than for hidden treasures, 1

who 2 and are glad, when they can find the grave? 1

Why is 2 whom God has hedged in? 1

For 2 My groanings are poured out like water. 1

For 2 that which I am afraid of comes to me. 1

I 2 but trouble comes.”
