Psalms 44
We have 2 our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, 2 in the days of old. 1
You 2 but you planted them. 1 You afflicted the peoples, 2 but you spread them abroad. 1
For 2 neither did their own arm save them; 1 but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, 2 because you were favourable to them. 1
God 2 Command victories for Jacob! 1
Through you 2 Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us. 1
For 2 neither will my sword save me. 1
But 2 and have shamed those who hate us. 1
In 2 We will give thanks to your name forever. Selah. 1
But 2 and don’t go out with our armies. 1
You 2 Those who hate us take plunder for themselves. 1
You 2 and have scattered us amongst the nations. 1
You 2 and have gained nothing from their sale. 1
You 2 a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us. 1
You 2 a shaking of the head amongst the peoples. 1
All day long my 2 and shame covers my face, 2
at 2 because of the enemy and the avenger. 1
All 2 yet we haven’t forgotten you. 2 We haven’t been false to your covenant. 1
Our 2 neither have our steps strayed from your path, 2
though you 2 and covered us with the shadow of death. 1
If 2 or spread out our hands to a strange god, 2
won’t God search this out 2 For he knows the secrets of the heart. 1
Yes 2 We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter. 1
Wake up 2 Why do you sleep, Lord? + 44:23 The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” 1 Arise! 2 Don’t reject us forever. 1
Why 2 and forget our affliction and our oppression? 1
For 2 Our body clings to the earth. 1
Rise up to 2 Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
