Amos 2

Thus saith the Lord; 1 For three transgressions of Moab, 1 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 1 Because he burnt the bones of the king of Edom into lime: 1

But I will send a fire upon Moab, 1 And it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: 1 And Moab shall die with tumult, 1 With shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet: 1

And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, 1 And will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the Lord. 1

Thus saith the Lord; 1 For three transgressions of Judah, 1 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 1 Because they have despised the law of the Lord, 1 And have not kept his commandments, 1 And their lies caused them to err, 1 After the which their fathers have walked: 1

But I will send a fire upon Judah, 1 And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. 1

Thus saith the Lord; 1 For three transgressions of Israel, 1 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 1 Because they sold the righteous for silver, 1 And the poor for a pair of shoes; 1

That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, 1 And turn aside the way of the meek: 1 And a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, 1 To profane my holy name: 1

And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, 1 And they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god. 1

Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, 1 Whose height was like the height of the cedars, 1 And he was strong as the oaks; 1 Yet I destroyed his fruit from above, 1 And his roots from beneath. 1

Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, 1 And led you forty years through the wilderness, 1 To possess the land of the Amorite. 1

And I raised up of your sons for prophets, 1 And of your young men for Nazarites. 1 Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord. 1

But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; 1 And commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. 1

Behold, I am pressed under you, 1 As a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. 1

Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, 1 And the strong shall not strengthen his force, 1 Neither shall the mighty deliver himself: 1

Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; 1 And he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: 1 Neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. 1

And he that is courageous among the mighty 1 Shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.
