Habakkuk 3

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. 1

O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: 1 O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, 1 In the midst of the years make known; 1 In wrath remember mercy. 1

God came from Teman, 1 And the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. 1 His glory covered the heavens, 1 And the earth was full of his praise. 1

And his brightness was as the light; 1 He had horns coming out of his hand: 1 And there was the hiding of his power. 1

Before him went the pestilence, 1 And burning coals went forth at his feet. 1

He stood, and measured the earth: 1 He beheld, and drove asunder the nations; 1 And the everlasting mountains were scattered, 1 The perpetual hills did bow: 1 His ways are everlasting. 1

I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: 1 And the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. 1

Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? 1 Was thine anger against the rivers? 1 Was thy wrath against the sea, 1 That thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation? 1

Thy bow was made quite naked, 1 According to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. 1 Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. 1

The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: 1 The overflowing of the water passed by: 1 The deep uttered his voice, 1 And lift up his hands on high. 1

The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: 1 At the light of thine arrows they went, 1 And at the shining of thy glittering spear. 1

Thou didst march through the land in indignation, 1 Thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 1

Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, 1 Even for salvation with thine anointed; 1 Thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, 1 By discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. 1

Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: 1 They came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: 1 Their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly. 1

Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, 1 Through the heap of great waters. 1

When I heard, my belly trembled; 1 My lips quivered at the voice: 1 Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, 1 That I might rest in the day of trouble: 1 When he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. 1

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, 1 Neither shall fruit be in the vines; 1 The labour of the olive shall fail, 1 And the fields shall yield no meat; 1 The flock shall be cut off from the fold, 1 And there shall be no herd in the stalls: 1

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, 1 I will joy in the God of my salvation. 1

The Lord God is my strength, 1 And he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, 1 And he will make me to walk upon mine high places. 1 To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
