Zechariah · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Zechariah 9

The burden of the word of the Lord in the land of Hadrach, 1 And Damascus shall be the rest thereof: 1 When the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the Lord. 1

And Hamath also shall border thereby; 1 Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise. 1

And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, 1 And heaped up silver as the dust, 1 And fine gold as the mire of the streets. 1

Behold, the Lord will cast her out, 1 And he will smite her power in the sea; 1 And she shall be devoured with fire. 1

Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; 1 Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, 1 And Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; 1 And the king shall perish from Gaza, 1 And Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. 1

And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, 1 And I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. 1

And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, 1 And his abominations from between his teeth: 1 But he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, 1 And he shall be as a governor in Judah, 1 And Ekron as a Jebusite. 1

And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, 1 Because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: 1 And no oppressor shall pass through them any more: 1 For now have I seen with mine eyes. 1

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; 1 Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: 1 Behold, thy King cometh unto thee: 1 He is just, and having salvation; 1 Lowly, and riding upon an ass, 1 And upon a colt the foal of an ass. 1

And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, 1 And the horse from Jerusalem, 1 And the battle bow shall be cut off: 1 And he shall speak peace unto the heathen: 1 And his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, 1 And from the river even to the ends of the earth. 1

As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant 1 I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. 1

Turn ye to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: 1 Even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee; 1

When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, 1 And raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, 1 And made thee as the sword of a mighty man. 1

And the Lord shall be seen over them, 1 And his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: 1 And the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, 1 And shall go with whirlwinds of the south. 1

The Lord of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, 1 And subdue with sling stones; 1 And they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; 1 And they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar. 1

And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: 1 For they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land. 1

For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! 1 Corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
