Zechariah 9
The burden of the Devar Hashem 1 against Eretz Chadrakh, 1 and Damascus its menuchah (resting place); 1 for toward Hashem shall be the eyes of man 1 as of Kol Shivtei Yisroel (all the tribes of Israel). 1
And Chamat at its border; 1 Tzor and Tzidon, though it be very wise. 1
And Tzor did build herself a matzor (stronghold), 1 and heaped up kesef like the dust, 1 and fine gold like the mire of the streets. 1
Hinei, Adonoi will cause it to be taken, 1 and He will strike her power on the yam; 1 and she shall be devoured with eish. 1
Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; 1 Azah (Gaza) also shall see it, 1 and tremble greatly, 1 and Ekron; for her hope shall be put to shame; 1 and Melech shall perish out of Azah (Gaza), 1 and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. 1
And mamzer shall dwell in Ashdod, 1 and I will cut off the ga'on (pride) of the Pelishtim (Philistines). 1
And I will take away his dahm out of his mouth, 1 and his abominations from between his teeth; 1 but he will also remain to Eloheinu, 1 and he shall be as a tribe prince in Yehudah, 1 and Ekron like the Yevusi (Jebusite). 1
And I will encamp about Mine Bais against military power, 1 because of him that goes maurading to and fro; 1 and no oppressor shall pass through them any more; 1 for now I am keeping watch with Mine eyes. 1
Rejoice greatly, O Bat Tziyon; 1 shout, O Bat Yerushalayim; 1 hinei, thy Melech cometh unto thee, 1 tzaddik, and having Salvation; 1 ani (lowly, meek), and riding upon a chamor, 1 even upon a colt the foal of a donkey. + 9:9 Mt 21:5; Yn 12:15 1
And I will cut off the chariot from Ephrayim, 1 and the war horse from Yerushalayim, 1 and the battle bow shall be cut off. 1 He shall proclaim shalom unto the Goyim; 1 and His + 9:10 Moshiachʼs dominion shall be from yam even to yam, 1 and from the + 9:10 Euphrates River even to the ends of ha'aretz. 1
As for thee also, by the dahm of thy Brit 1 I release thy prisoners 1 out of the pit wherein is no mayim. + 9:11 T.N. Notice the blood of the Covenant is essential to Israelʼs Orthodox faith 1
Return to the stronghold, 1 ye prisoners of tikvah (hope); 1 even today do I proclaim 1 that I will repay double unto thee; 1
I will bend Yehudah as I bend My keshet (bow), 1 fill it with Ephrayim, 1 and I will rouse thy banim, O Tziyon, 1 against thy banim, O Yavan (Greece), 1 and make thee like the cherev (sword) of a gibbor (mighty man). 1
And Hashem shall be seen over them, 1 and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning; 1 and Adonoi Hashem shall sound the shofar, 1 and shall march forth with storms of the south. 1
Hashem Tzva'os shall shield them; 1 and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; 1 and they shall drink, and shall roar as through yayin; 1 and they shall be full like a bowl, 1 like the corners of the mizbe'ach. 1
And Hashem Eloheihem shall save them in Yom HaHu 1 as the tzon of His people; 1 for they shall be as the jewels of a crown, 1 sparkling in His land. 1
For how great is its goodness, 1 and how great is its beauty! 1 Grain shall make the bochurim thrive, 1 and tirosh, the betulot.
