Amos 5
Listen 1
“ The 2 She shall rise no more. 1 She is cast down on her land; 2 there is no one to raise her up.”
For 1 “ The city that went out a thousand shall have a hundred left, 2 and that which went out one hundred shall have ten left to the house of Israel.”
For 1 “ Seek me, and you will live; 1
but 2 nor enter into Gilgal, 2 and don’t pass to Beersheba; 1 for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, 2 and Bethel shall come to nothing. 1
Seek 2 lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, 2 and it devour, and there be no one to quench it in Bethel. 1
You who turn 2 and cast down righteousness to the earth! 1
Seek him 2 and turns the shadow of death into the morning, 2 and makes the day dark with night; 2 who calls for the waters of the sea, 2 and pours them out on the surface of the earth, Yahweh is his name, 1
who brings sudden destruction 2 so that destruction comes on the fortress. 1
They 2 and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly. 1
Therefore 2 you have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. 1 You have planted pleasant vineyards, 2 but you shall not drink their wine. 1
For 2 and how great are your sins— 2 you who afflict the just, 2 who take a bribe, 2 and who turn away the needy in the courts. 1
Therefore 2 for it is an evil time. 1
Seek 2 that you may live; 2 and so Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be with you, 2 as you say. 1
Hate 2 and establish justice in the courts. 2 It may be that Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
Therefore 1 “ Wailing will be in all the wide ways. 2 They will say in all the streets, ‘ Alas! Alas!’ 2 They will call the farmer to mourning, 2 and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing. 1
In 2 for I will pass through the middle of you,” says Yahweh. 1
“ Woe 2 Why do you long for the day of Yahweh? 1 It is darkness, 2 and not light. 1
As 2 and a bear met him; 1 or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, 2 and a snake bit him. 1
Won’t the 2 Even very dark, and no brightness in it? 1
I 2 and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies. 1
Yes 2 I will not accept them; 2 neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals. 1
Take 2 I will not listen to the music of your harps. 1
But 2 and righteousness like a mighty stream.
