Ezekiel 19
1“Moreover, take
2and 1 ‘ What was your mother? 2 A lioness. 1 She couched among lions, 2 in the middle of the young lions she nourished her cubs. 1
3She brought 2 He became a young lion. 1 He learned to catch the prey. 2 He devoured men. 1
4The 2 He was taken in their pit; 2 and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt. 1
5“‘ Now 2 and her hope was lost, 1 then she took another of her cubs, 2 and made him a young lion. 1
6He 2 He became a young lion. 1 He learned to catch the prey. 2 He devoured men. 1
7He 2 and laid waste their cities. 1 The land was desolate with its fullness, 2 because of the noise of his roaring. 1
8Then 2 They spread their net over him. 2 He was taken in their pit. 1
9They 2 and brought him to the king of Babylon. 1 They brought him into strongholds, 2 so that his voice should no more be heard on the mountains of Israel. 1
10“‘ Your 2 It was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters. 1
11It 2 Their stature was exalted among the thick boughs. 1 They were seen in their height 2 with the multitude of their branches. 1
12But 2 It was cast down to the ground, 1 and the east wind dried up its fruit. 2 Its strong branches were broken off and withered. 2 The fire consumed them. 1
13Now 2 in a dry and thirsty land. 1
14Fire has 2 It has devoured its fruit, 2 so that there is in it no strong branch to be a scepter to rule.’ This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”
