Hosea 9
1Don’t rejoice 2 for you were unfaithful to your God. 2 You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor. 1
2The 2 and the new wine will fail her. 1
3They 2 but Ephraim will return to Egypt, 2 and they will eat unclean food in Assyria. 1
4They 2 neither will they be pleasing to him. 2 Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; 2 all who eat of it will be polluted; 2 for their bread will be for their appetite. 2 It will not come into Yahweh’s house. 1
5What 2 and in the day of the feast of Yahweh? 1
6For 2 Egypt will gather them up. 2 Memphis will bury them. 2 Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. 2 Thorns will be in their tents. 1
7The 2 The days of reckoning have come. 1 Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, 2 and the man who is inspired to be insane, 2 because of the abundance of your sins, 2 and because your hostility is great. 1
8A 2 A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, 2 and hostility in the house of his God. 1
9They 2 as in the days of Gibeah. 2 He will remember their iniquity. 2 He will punish them for their sins. 1
10I 2 I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; 2 but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, 2 and became abominable like that which they loved. 1
11As for 2 There will be no birth, no one with child, and no conception. 1
12Though 2 yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. 2 Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them! 1
13I 2 but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer. 1
14Give 2 Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. 1
15“ All 2 for there I hated them. 2 Because of the wickedness of their deeds, I will drive them out of my house! 2 I will love them no more. 2 All their princes are rebels. 1
16Ephraim is 2 Their root has dried up. 2 They will bear no fruit. 2 Even though they give birth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.” 1
17My 2 and they will be wanderers among the nations.
