Isaiah 59
1Behold 2 nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear. 1
2But 2 and your sins have hidden his face from you, 2 so that he will not hear. 1
3For 2 and your fingers with iniquity. 1 Your lips have spoken lies. 2 Your tongue mutters wickedness. 1
4No 2 and no one pleads in truth. 1 They trust in vanity 2 and speak lies. 1 They conceive mischief 2 and give birth to iniquity. 1
5They hatch 2 and weave the spider’s web. 1 He who eats of their eggs dies; 2 and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper. 1
6Their 2 They won’t cover themselves with their works. 1 Their works are works of iniquity, 2 and acts of violence are in their hands. 1
7Their 2 and they hurry to shed innocent blood. 1 Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity. 2 Desolation and destruction are in their paths. 1
8They 2 and there is no justice in their ways. 1 They have made crooked paths for themselves; 2 whoever goes in them doesn’t know peace. 1
9Therefore 2 and righteousness doesn’t overtake us. 1 We look for light, but see darkness; 2 for brightness, but we walk in obscurity. 1
10We 2 Yes, we grope as those who have no eyes. 1 We stumble at noon as if it were twilight. 2 Among those who are strong, we are like dead men. 1
11We 2 and moan sadly like doves. 1 We look for justice, but there is none, 2 for salvation, but it is far off from us. 1
12For 2 and our sins testify against us; 1 for our transgressions are with us, 2 and as for our iniquities, we know them: 1
13transgressing 2 and turning away from following our God, 2 speaking oppression and revolt, 2 conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. 1
14Justice 2 and righteousness stands far away; 1 for truth has fallen in the street, 2 and uprightness can’t enter. 1
15Yes 2 and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. 1 The LORD saw it, 2 and it displeased him that there was no justice. 1
16He 2 and wondered that there was no intercessor. 1 Therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; 2 and his righteousness sustained him. 1
17He 2 and a helmet of salvation on his head. 1 He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, 2 and was clad with zeal as a mantle. 1
18According 2 he will repay as appropriate: 2 wrath to his adversaries, 2 recompense to his enemies. 2 He will repay the islands their due. 1
19So 2 and his glory from the rising of the sun; 1 for he will come as a rushing stream, 2 which the LORD’s breath drives. 1
