Deuteronomy 33
1This is the blessing that Moses [Drawn out] the man of God blessed the children of Israel [God prevails] before his death.
2He said, 1 “ Adonai came from Sinai [Thorn], 2 and rose from Seir to them. 1 He shone from Mount Paran. 2 He came from the ten thousands of holy ones. 2 At his right hand was a fiery law for them. 1
3Yes, he choveiv ·hides in bosom, loves· the people. 2 All his saints are in your hand. 2 They sat down at your feet. 2 Each receives your words. 1
4The Torah ·Teaching· Moses [Drawn out] enjoined us, 2 an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob [Supplanter]. 1
5+ 33:5. MPr: The King who the 12 Tribes will obey is the King Messiah. (Deut 33:5 in Jerusalem Targum). (Matt 1:17; Luke 1:32-33) He was king in + 33:5. MPr: Jeshrun refers to King Messiah whom all twelve tribes will obey. “All will ascribe allegiance.” (Deut 33:5 in Jerusalem Targum). (Rev 21:14) Jeshurun [Upright one], 2 when the heads of the people were gathered, 2 all the tribes of Israel [God prevails] together. 1
6“Let Reuben [See, a son!] live, and not die; 2 Nor let his men be few.”
7This is for Judah [Praised]. He said, 1 “ Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, Adonai, the voice of Judah [Praised]. 2 Bring him in to his people. 1 With his hands he contended for himself. 2 You shall be a help against his adversaries.” (2)
8About Levi [United with] he said, 1 “Your Thummim ·Perfections· and your 'Urim ·Lights· are with your pious one, 2 whom you proved at Massah [Testing], 2 with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah [Quarreling]. 1
9He said of his father, and of his mother, ‘I have not seen him.’ 2 He didn’t acknowledge his brothers, 2 nor did he know his own children; 1 for they have observed your word, 2 and keep your covenant. 1
10They shall teach Jacob [Supplanter] your judgments, 2 and Israel [God prevails] your Torah ·Teaching·. 1 They shall put incense before you, 2 and whole burnt offering on your altar. 1
11Adonai, bless his skills. 2 Accept the work of his hands. 1 Strike through the hips of those who rise up against him, 2 of those who hate him, that they not rise again.”
12About Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south] he said, 1 “The Yadid ·Beloved· of Adonai will dwell in safety by him. 2 He covers him all day long. 2 He dwells between his shoulders.” (3)
13About Joseph [May he add] he said, 1 “His land is blessed by Adonai, 2 for the precious things of the heavens, for the dew, 2 for the deep that couches beneath, 1
14for the precious things of the fruits of the sun, 2 for the precious things that the moon can yield, 1
15for the best things of the ancient mountains, 2 for the precious things of the everlasting hills, 1
16for the precious things of the earth and its fullness, 2 the good will of him who lived in the bush. 1 Let this come on the head of Joseph [May he add], 2 on the crown of the head of him who was separated from his brothers. 1
17The firstborn of his herd, majesty is his. 2 His horns are the horns of the wild ox. 2 With them he will push all the peoples, to the ends of the earth. 1 They are the ten thousands of Ephraim [Fruit]. 2 They are the thousands of Manasseh [Causing to forget].” (4)
18About Zebulun [Living together] he said, 1 “Rejoice, Zebulun [Living together], in your going out; 2 and Issachar [Hire, Reward], in your tents. 1
19They will call the peoples to the mountain. 2 There they will offer sacrifices of righteousness, 1 for they will draw out the abundance of the seas, 2 the hidden treasures of the sand.”
20About Gad [Good fortune] he said, 1 “He who enlarges Gad [Good fortune] is blessed. 2 He dwells as a lioness, 2 and tears the arm, yes, the crown of the head. 1
21He provided the first part for himself, 2 for the Torah-giver’s portion reserved was reserved for him. 1 He came with the heads of the people. 2 He executed the righteousness of Adonai, 2 His judgments with Israel [God prevails].” (5)
22About Dan [He judged] he said, 1 “Dan [He judged] is a lion’s cub 2 that leaps out of Bashan.”
23About Naphtali [My wrestling] he said, 1 “Naphtali [My wrestling], satisfied with favor, 2 full of Adonai’s blessing, 2 Possess the west and the south.”
24About Asher [Happy] he said, 1 “Asher [Happy] is blessed with children. 2 Let him be acceptable to his brothers. 2 Let him dip his foot in oil. 1
25Your bars will be iron and bronze. 2 As your days, so your strength will be. 1
26“There is no one like God, Jeshurun [Upright one], 2 who rides on the heavens for your help, 2 in his excellency on the skies. 1 (6)
27The eternal God is your dwelling place. 2 Underneath are the everlasting arms. 1 He divorce and cast away the enemy from before you, 2 and said, ‘Destroy!’ 1
28Israel [God prevails] dwells in safety; 2 the fountain of Jacob [Supplanter] alone, 1 In a land of grain and new wine. 2 Yes, his heavens drop down dew. 1
29You are happy, Israel [God prevails]! 2 Who is like you, a people saved by Adonai, 2 the shield of your help, 2 the sword of your excellency? 1 Your enemies will submit themselves to you. 2 You will tread on their high places.”
