Jeremiah 14

2“ Judah 2 and its gates languish. 1 They sit in black on the ground. 2 The cry of Jerusalem goes up. 1

3Their 2 They come to the cisterns, 2 and find no water. 1 They return with their vessels empty. 2 They are disappointed and confounded, 2 and cover their heads. 1

4Because 2 because no rain has been in the land, 1 the plowmen are disappointed. 2 They cover their heads. 1

5Yes 2 because there is no grass. 1

6The 2 They pant for air like jackals. 1 Their eyes fail, 2 because there is no vegetation. 1

7Though 2 work for your name’s sake, LORD; 1 for our rebellions are many. 2 We have sinned against you. 1

8You 2 its Savior in the time of trouble, 1 why should you be as a foreigner in the land, 2 and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night? 1

9Why 2 as a mighty man who can’t save? 1 Yet you, LORD, are in the middle of us, 2 and we are called by your name. 2 Don’t leave us.

10The 1 “ Even so they have loved to wander. 2 They have not restrained their feet. 1 Therefore the LORD does not accept them. 2 Now he will remember their iniquity, 2 and punish them for their sins.”

17“ You 1 “‘ Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, 2 and let them not cease; 1 for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, 2 with a very grievous wound. 1

18If 2 then behold, the slain with the sword! 1 If I enter into the city, 2 then behold, those who are sick with famine! 1 For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, 2 and have no knowledge.’” 1

19Have 2 Has your soul loathed Zion? 1 Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? 2 We looked for peace, but no good came; 2 and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay! 1

20We 2 and the iniquity of our fathers; 2 for we have sinned against you. 1

21Do 2 Do not disgrace the throne of your glory. 2 Remember, and don’t break your covenant with us. 1

22Are 2 Or can the sky give showers? 2 Aren’t you he, the LORD our God? 1 Therefore we will wait for you; 2 for you have made all these things.
