1Then 1

2“ I 2 You are all miserable comforters! 1

3Shall 2 Or what provokes you that you answer? 1

4I 2 If your soul were in my soul’s place, 2 I could join words together against you, 2 and shake my head at you, 1

5but 2 The solace of my lips would relieve you. 1

6“Though I 2 Though I forbear, what am I eased? 1

7But 2 You have made all my company desolate. 1

8You 2 My leanness rises up against me. 2 It testifies to my face. 1

9He 2 He has gnashed on me with his teeth. 2 My adversary sharpens his eyes on me. 1

10They 2 They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully. 2 They gather themselves together against me. 1

11God 2 and casts me into the hands of the wicked. 1

12I 2 Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces. 2 He has also set me up for his target. 1

13His 2 He splits my kidneys apart, and does not spare. 2 He pours out my bile on the ground. 1

14He 2 He runs at me like a giant. 1

15I 2 and have thrust my horn in the dust. 1

16My 2 Deep darkness is on my eyelids, 1

17although 2 and my prayer is pure. 1

18“Earth, don’t cover 2 Let my cry have no place to rest. 1

19Even 2 He who vouches for me is on high. 1

20My friends 2 My eyes pour out tears to God, 1

21that 2 of a son of man with his neighbour! 1

22For 2 I will go the way of no return.
