Jeremiah 31
At the same time, saith the Lord, 1 Will I be the God of all the families of Israel, 1 And they shall be my people. 1
Thus saith the Lord, 1 The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; 1 Even Israel when I went to cause him to rest. 1
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, 1 Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; 1 Therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. 1
Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: 1 Thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, 1 And shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. 1
Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: 1 The planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. 1
For there shall be a day, 1 That the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, 1 Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God. 1
For thus saith the Lord; 1 Sing with gladness for Jacob, 1 And shout among the chief of the nations: 1 Publish ye, praise ye, and say, 1 O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. 1
Behold, I will bring them from the north country, 1 And gather them from the coasts of the earth, 1 And with them the blind and the lame, 1 The woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: 1 A great company shall return thither. 1
They shall come with weeping, 1 And with supplications will I lead them: 1 I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters 1 In a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: 1 For I am a father to Israel, 1 And Ephraim is my firstborn. 1
Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, 1 And declare it in the isles afar off, and say, 1 He that scattered Israel will gather him, 1 And keep him as a shepherd doth his flock. 1
For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, 1 And ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. 1
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, 1 And shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, 1 For wheat, and for wine, and for oil, 1 And for the young of the flock and of the herd: 1 And their soul shall be as a watered garden; 1 And they shall not sorrow any more at all. 1
Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, 1 Both young men and old together: 1 For I will turn their mourning into joy, 1 And will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 1
And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, 1 And my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord. 1
Thus saith the Lord; 1 A voice was heard in Ramah, 1 Lamentation, and bitter weeping; 1 Rahel weeping for her children 1 Refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. 1
Thus saith the Lord, 1 Refrain thy voice from weeping, 1 And thine eyes from tears: 1 For thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; 1 And they shall come again from the land of the enemy. 1
And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, 1 That thy children shall come again to their own border. 1
I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; 1 Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, 1 As a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke; 1 Turn thou me, and I shall be turned; 1 For thou art the Lord my God. 1
Surely after that I was turned, I repented; 1 And after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: 1 I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, 1 Because I did bear the reproach of my youth. 1
Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? 1 For since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: 1 Therefore my bowels are troubled for him; 1 I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the Lord. 1
Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: 1 Set thine heart toward the highway, 1 Even the way which thou wentest: 1 Turn again, O virgin of Israel, 1 Turn again to these thy cities, 1
How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? 1 For the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, 1 A woman shall compass a man. 1
Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; 1 As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, 1 When I shall bring again their captivity; 1 The Lord bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness. 1
And there shall dwell in Judah itself, 1 And in all the cities thereof together, 1 Husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks. 1
For I have satiated the weary soul, 1 And I have replenished every sorrowful soul. 1
Upon this I awaked, and beheld; 1 And my sleep was sweet unto me. 1
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, 1 That I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah 1 With the seed of man, and with the seed of beast. 1
And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, 1 To pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, 1 And to destroy, and to afflict; 1 So will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the Lord. 1
In those days they shall say no more, 1 The fathers have eaten a sour grape, 1 And the children’s teeth are set on edge. 1
But every one shall die for his own iniquity: 1 Every man that eateth the sour grape, 1 His teeth shall be set on edge. 1
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, 1 That I will make a new covenant 1 With the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 1
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers 1 In the day that I took them by the hand, 1 To bring them out of the land of Egypt; 1 Which my covenant they brake, 1 Although I was a husband unto them, saith the Lord: 1
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; 1 After those days, saith the Lord, 1 I will put my law in their inward parts, 1 And write it in their hearts; 1 And will be their God, 1 And they shall be my people. 1
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, 1 Know the Lord: 1 For they shall all know me, 1 From the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: 1 For I will forgive their iniquity, 1 And I will remember their sin no more. 1
Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, 1 And the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, 1 Which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; 1 The Lord of hosts is his name: 1
If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, 1 Then the seed of Israel also shall cease 1 From being a nation before me for ever. 1
Thus saith the Lord; 1 If heaven above can be measured, 1 And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, 1 I will also cast off all the seed of Israel 1 For all that they have done, saith the Lord. 1
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, 1 That the city shall be built to the Lord 1 From the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. 1
And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it 1 Upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath. 1
And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, 1 And all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, 1 Unto the corner of the horse gate towards the east, 1 Shall be holy unto the Lord; 1 It shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
