Nahum · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Nahum 2

He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: 1 Keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily. 1

For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, 1 As the excellency of Israel: 1 For the emptiers have emptied them out, 1 And marred their vine branches. 1

The shield of his mighty men is made red, 1 The valiant men are in scarlet: 1 The chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, 1 And the fir trees shall be terribly shaken. 1

The chariots shall rage in the streets, 1 They shall justle one against another in the broad ways: 1 They shall seem like torches, 1 They shall run like the lightnings. 1

He shall recount his worthies: 1 They shall stumble in their walk; 1 They shall make haste to the wall thereof, 1 And the defence shall be prepared. 1

The gates of the rivers shall be opened, 1 And the palace shall be dissolved. 1

And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, 1 And her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, 1 Tabring upon their breasts. 1

But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: 1 Yet they shall flee away. 1 Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back. 1

Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: 1 For there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture. 1

She is empty, and void, and waste: 1 And the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, 1 And much pain is in all loins, 1 And the faces of them all gather blackness. 1

Where is the dwelling of the lions, 1 And the feeding place of the young lions, 1 Where the lion, even the old lion, walked, 1 And the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid? 1

The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, 1 And strangled for his lionesses, 1 And filled his holes with prey, 1 And his dens with ravin. 1

Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, 1 And I will burn her chariots in the smoke, 1 And the sword shall devour thy young lions: 1 And I will cut off thy prey from the earth, 1 And the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
