Nahum · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Nahum 1

The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. 1

God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; 1 The Lord revengeth, and is furious; 1 The Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, 1 And he reserveth wrath for his enemies. 1

The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, 1 And will not at all acquit the wicked: 1 The Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, 1 And the clouds are the dust of his feet. 1

He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, 1 And drieth up all the rivers: 1 Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, 1 And the flower of Lebanon languisheth. 1

The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, 1 And the earth is burnt at his presence, 1 Yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. 1

Who can stand before his indignation? 1 And who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? 1 His fury is poured out like fire, 1 And the rocks are thrown down by him. 1

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; 1 And he knoweth them that trust in him. 1

But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, 1 And darkness shall pursue his enemies. 1

What do ye imagine against the Lord? 1 He will make an utter end: 1 Affliction shall not rise up the second time. 1

For while they be folden together as thorns, 1 And while they be drunken as drunkards, 1 They shall be devoured as stubble fully dry. 1

There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the Lord, 1 A wicked counseller. 1

Thus saith the Lord; 1 Though they be quiet, and likewise many, 1 Yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. 1 Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. 1

For now will I break his yoke from off thee, 1 And will burst thy bonds in sunder. 1

And the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee, 1 That no more of thy name be sown: 1 Out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: 1 I will make thy grave; for thou art vile. 1

Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace. 1 O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: 1 For the wicked shall no more pass through thee; 1 He is utterly cut off.
