Jeremiah 47

The Devar Hashem that came to Yirmeyah HaNavi against the Pelishtim (Philistines), before Pharaoh smote Azah (Gaza). 1

Thus saith Hashem: Hinei, 1 waters rise up out of the north, 1 and shall be an overflowing flood, 1 and shall overflow the land, 1 and all that is therein; the Ir, 1 and them that dwell therein; then the adam shall cry, 1 and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail. 1

At the noise of the stamping of the hooves of his mighty steeds, 1 at the rushing of his chariots, 1 and at the rumbling of his wheels, 1 the avot shall not look back to their banim 1 for the limpness of their hands; 1

Because of the Yom HaBah 1 for destroying all the Pelishtim (Philistines), 1 and to cut off from Tzor and Tzidon 1 every helper that remaineth; 1 for Hashem will destroy the Pelishtim (Philistines), 1 the remnant of the coast of Caphtor. 1

The shaved head has come upon Azah (Gaza); 1 Ashkelon is silenced. 1 Remnant of their valley, 1 how long wilt thou cut thyself? 1

O thou cherev Hashem, 1 how long will it be until thou be quiet? 1 Put up thyself into thy scabbard, 1 rest, and be still. 1

How can it be quiet, 1 seeing Hashem hath given it a charge 1 against Ashkelon, and against the sea coast? 1 There hath He appointed it.
