Hosea 13
1When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; 1 But when he offended in Baal, he died. 1
2And now they sin more and more, 1 And have made them molten images of their silver, 1 And idols according to their own understanding, 1 All of it the work of the craftsmen: 1 They say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves. 1
3Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, 1 And as the early dew that passeth away, 1 As the chaff that is driven with a whirlwind out of the floor, 1 And as the smoke out of the chimney. 1
4Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, 1 And thou shalt know no god but me: 1 For there is no saviour beside me. 1
5I did know thee in the wilderness, 1 In the land of great drought. 1
6According to their pasture, so were they filled; 1 They were filled, and their heart was exalted; 1 Therefore have they forgotten me. 1
7Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: 1 As a leopard by the way will I observe them: 1
8I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, 1 And will rent the caul of their heart, 1 And there will I devour them like a lion: 1 The wild beast shall tear them. 1
9O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help. 1
10I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? 1 And thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes? 1
11I gave thee a king in mine anger, 1 And took him away in my wrath. 1
12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid. 1
13The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: 1 He is an unwise son; 1 For he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children. 1
14I will ransom them from the power of the grave; 1 I will redeem them from death: 1 O death, I will be thy plagues; 1 O grave, I will be thy destruction: 1 Repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. 1
15Though he be fruitful among his brethren, 1 An east wind shall come, the wind of the Lord shall come up from the wilderness, 1 And his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: 1 He shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels. 1
16Samaria shall become desolate; 1 For she hath rebelled against her God: 1 They shall fall by the sword: 1 Their infants shall be dashed in pieces, 1 And their women with child shall be ript up.
