Micah · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Micah 1

The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. 1

Hear, all ye people; 1 Hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: 1 And let the Lord God be witness against you, 1 The Lord from his holy temple. 1

For behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, 1 And will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth. 1

And the mountains shall be molten under him, 1 And the valleys shall be cleft, 1 As wax before the fire, 1 And as the waters that are poured down a steep place. 1

For the transgression of Jacob is all this, 1 And for the sins of the house of Israel. 1 What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? 1 And what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? 1

Therefore I will make Samaria as a heap of the field, 1 And as plantings of a vineyard: 1 And I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, 1 And I will discover the foundations thereof. 1

And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, 1 And all the hires thereof shall be burnt with the fire, 1 And all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: 1 For she gathered it of the hire of a harlot, 1 And they shall return to the hire of a harlot. 1

Therefore I will wail and howl, 1 I will go stript and naked: 1 I will make a wailing like the dragons, 1 And mourning as the owls. 1

For her wound is incurable; 1 For it is come unto Judah; 1 He is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem. 1

Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: 1 In the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust. 1

Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: 1 The inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Beth-ezel; 1 He shall receive of you his standing. 1

For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: 1 But evil came down from the Lord unto the gate of Jerusalem. 1

O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: 1 She is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: 1 For the transgressions of Israel were found in thee. 1

Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moresheth-gath: 1 The houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel. 1

Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: 1 He shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel. 1

Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; 1 Enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; 1 For they are gone into captivity from thee.
