Micah · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Micah 6

Hear ye now what the Lord saith; 1 Arise, contend thou before the mountains, 1 And let the hills hear thy voice. 1

Hear ye, O mountains, the Lord’s controversy, 1 And ye strong foundations of the earth: 1 For the Lord hath a controversy with his people, 1 And he will plead with Israel. 1

O my people, what have I done unto thee? 1 And wherein have I wearied thee? 1 Testify against me. 1

For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, 1 And redeemed thee out of the house of servants; 1 And I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. 1

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, 1 And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; 1 From Shittim unto Gilgal; 1 That ye may know the righteousness of the Lord. 1

Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, 1 And bow myself before the high God? 1 Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, 1 With calves of a year old? 1

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, 1 Or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? 1 Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, 1 The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 1

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; 1 And what doth the Lord require of thee, 1 But to do justly, and to love mercy, 1 And to walk humbly with thy God? 1

The Lord’s voice crieth unto the city, 1 And the man of wisdom shall see thy name: 1 Hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it. 1

Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, 1 And the scant measure that is abominable? 1

Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, 1 And with the bag of deceitful weights? 1

For the rich men thereof are full of violence, 1 And the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, 1 And their tongue is deceitful in their mouth. 1

Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, 1 In making thee desolate because of thy sins. 1

Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; 1 And thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; 1 And thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; 1 And that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword. 1

Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; 1 Thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; 1 And sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine. 1

For the statutes of Omri are kept, 1 And all the works of the house of Ahab, 1 And ye walk in their counsels; 1 That I should make thee a desolation, 1 And the inhabitants thereof a hissing: 1 Therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
