Micah · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Micah 2

Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! 1 When the morning is light, they practise it, 1 Because it is in the power of their hand. 1

And they covet fields, and take them by violence; 1 And houses, and take them away: 1 So they oppress a man and his house, 1 Even a man and his heritage. 1

Therefore thus saith the Lord; 1 Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, 1 From which ye shall not remove your necks; 1 Neither shall ye go haughtily: 1 For this time is evil. 1

In that day shall one take up a parable against you, 1 And lament with a doleful lamentation, 1 And say, We be utterly spoiled: 1 He hath changed the portion of my people: 1 How hath he removed it from me! 1 Turning away he hath divided our fields. 1

Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot 1 In the congregation of the Lord. 1

Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: 1 They shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame. 1

O thou that art named the house of Jacob, 1 Is the spirit of the Lord straitened? 1 Are these his doings? 1 Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? 1

Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: 1 Ye pull off the robe with the garment 1 From them that pass by securely as men averse from war. 1

The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; 1 From their children have ye taken away my glory for ever. 1

Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: 1 Because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. 1

If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, 1 I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; 1 He shall even be the prophet of this people. 1

I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; 1 I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; 1 I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, 1 As the flock in the midst of their fold: 1 They shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 1

The breaker is come up before them: 1 They have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: 1 And their king shall pass before them, 1 And the Lord on the head of them.
