Song of Solomon 1
The song of songs, which is Solomon’s. 1
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: 1 For thy love is better than wine. 1
Because of the savour of thy good ointments 1 Thy name is as ointment poured forth, 1 Therefore do the virgins love thee. 1
Draw me, we will run after thee: 1 The king hath brought me into his chambers: 1 We will be glad and rejoice in thee, 1 We will remember thy love more than wine: 1 The upright love thee. 1
I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, 1 As the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. 1
Look not upon me, because I am black, 1 Because the sun hath looked upon me: 1 My mother’s children were angry with me; 1 They made me the keeper of the vineyards; 1 But mine own vineyard have I not kept. 1
Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, 1 Where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: 1 For why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? 1
If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, 1 Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, 1 And feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents. 1
I have compared thee, O my love, 1 To a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots. 1
Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, 1 Thy neck with chains of gold. 1
We will make thee borders of gold 1 With studs of silver. 1
While the king sitteth at his table, 1 My spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof. 1
A bundle of myrrh is my well-beloved unto me; 1 He shall lie all night betwixt my breasts. 1
My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire 1 In the vineyards of En-gedi. 1
Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; 1 Thou hast doves’ eyes. 1
Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: 1 Also our bed is green. 1
The beams of our house are cedar, 1 And our rafters of fir.
