Song of Solomon · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Song of Solomon 3

By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: 1 I sought him, but I found him not. 1

I will rise now, and go about the city 1 In the streets and in the broad ways, 1 I will seek him whom my soul loveth: 1 I sought him, but I found him not. 1

The watchmen that go about the city found me: 1 To whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth? 1

It was but a little that I passed from them, 1 But I found him whom my soul loveth: 1 I held him, and would not let him go, 1 Until I had brought him into my mother’s house, 1 And into the chamber of her that conceived me. 1

I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, 1 By the roes, and by the hinds of the field, 1 That ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please. 1

Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, 1 Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, 1 With all powders of the merchant? 1

Behold his bed, which is Solomon’s; 1 Threescore valiant men are about it, 1 Of the valiant of Israel. 1

They all hold swords, being expert in war: 1 Every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night. 1

King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon. 1

He made the pillars thereof of silver, 1 The bottom thereof of gold, 1 The covering of it of purple, 1 The midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem. 1

Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon 1 With the crown where with his mother crowned him 1 In the day of his espousals, 1 And in the day of the gladness of his heart.
