Song of Solomon · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Song of Solomon 5

I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: 1 I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; 1 I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; 1 I have drunk my wine with my milk: 1 Eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved. 1

I sleep, but my heart waketh: 1 It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh saying, 1 Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: 1 For my head is filled with dew, 1 And my locks with the drops of the night. 1

I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? 1 I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? 1

My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, 1 And my bowels were moved for him. 1

I rose up to open to my beloved; 1 And my hands dropped with myrrh, 1 And my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, 1 Upon the handles of the lock. 1

I opened to my beloved; 1 But my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: 1 My soul failed when he spake: 1 I sought him, but I could not find him; 1 I called him, but he gave me no answer. 1

The watchmen that went about the city found me, 1 They smote me, they wounded me; 1 The keepers of the walls took away my vail from me. 1

I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, 1 If ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, 1 That I am sick of love. 1

What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? 1 What is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us? 1

My beloved is white and ruddy, 1 The chiefest among ten thousand. 1

His head is as the most fine gold, 1 His locks are bushy, and black as a raven. 1

His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, 1 Washed with milk, and fitly set. 1

His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: 1 His lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. 1

His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: 1 His belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. 1

His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: 1 His countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars. 1

His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. 1 This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.
