Song of Solomon 8
O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! 1 When I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; 1 Yea, I should not be despised. 1
I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother’s house, who would instruct me: 1 I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine, of the juice of my pomegranate. 1
His left hand should be under my head, 1 And his right hand should embrace me. 1
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, 1 That ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please. 1
Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, 1 Leaning upon her beloved? 1 I raised thee up under the apple tree: 1 There thy mother brought thee forth: 1 There she brought thee forth that bare thee. 1
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, 1 As a seal upon thine arm: 1 For love is strong as death; 1 Jealousy is cruel as the grave: 1 The coals thereof are coals of fire, 1 Which hath a most vehement flame. 1
Many waters cannot quench love, 1 Neither can the floods drown it: 1 If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, 1 It would utterly be contemned. 1
We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: 1 What shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for? 1
If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: 1 And if she be a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar. 1
I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: 1 Then was I in his eyes as one that found favour. 1
Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; 1 He let out the vineyard unto keepers; 1 Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver. 1
My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: 1 Thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, 1 And those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred. 1
Thou that dwellest in the gardens, 1 The companions hearken to thy voice: 1 Cause me to hear it. 1
Make haste, my beloved, 1 And be thou like to a roe or to a young hart 1 Upon the mountains of spices.
