Micah 7
Woe is me! For I am become like a gathering of kayitz (summer fruit), 1 like a gleaning of the vintage; 1 there is no grape cluster to eat, 1 none of the early figs my nefesh desired. 1
The chasid has disappeared from ha'aretz; 1 and there is none yashar (upright, straight) among men; 1 they all lie in wait for dahm; 1 they hunt every man his brother with a net. 1
That they may do evil with both hands skillfully, 1 the sar and the shofet asketh for a bribe; 1 and hagadol uttereth the evil of his nefesh (soul); 1 so they weave it. 1
The best of them is like a brier; 1 the yashar ([most] upright) is sharper than a thorn hedge; 1 the yom of thy watchmen and thy pekuddah (visitation) cometh; 1 now shall their confusion follow. 1
Trust ye not in a re'a, 1 put ye not confidence in an alluf (confidant); 1 keep the doors of thy mouth from her 1 that lieth in thy kheyk (bosom). 1
For the ben dishonoureth the av, 1 the bat riseth up against her em, 1 the kallah against her chamot; 1 a manʼs enemies are the men of his own bais. 1
Therefore I will look [in hope] for Hashem; 1 I will wait for Elohei Yishi (the G-d of my Salvation); 1 Elohai (my G-d) will hear me. 1
Don't joyously gloat over me, O mine enemy; 1 when I fall, I shall rise; 1 when I sit in choshech, Hashem shall be ohr unto me. 1
I will bear the wrath of Hashem, 1 because I have sinned against Him, 1 until He plead my case, 1 and execute mishpat for me; 1 He will bring me forth into the ohr, 1 and I shall behold His tzedakah. 1
Then mine enemy shall see it, 1 and bushah (shame) shall cover her 1 which said unto me: Where is Hashem thy G-d? 1 Mine eyes shall behold her; 1 now shall she be trodden down like the mire of the streets. 1
In the yom that thy fences are to be built, 1 in Yom HaHu (that Day) shall the chok (prescribed limit, boundary) be far away. 1
In that yom also it shall come into your possession 1 from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, 1 even from Egypt to the Euphrates, 1 from yam to yam, and from har to har. 1
Notwithstanding ha'aretz shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, 1 for the fruit of their doings. 1
Tend as a shepherd Thy people with Thy staff, 1 the tzon of Thine nachalah, 1 which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel; 1 let them feed in Bashan and Gil'ad, 1 as in days of old. 1
According to the days of thy coming out of Eretz Mitzrayim 1 will I show unto it marvellous things. 1
The Goyim shall see and be ashamed at all their might; 1 they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, 1 their ears shall be deaf. 1
They shall lick the aphar (dust) like the nachash, 1 like crawlers that crawl on eretz (ground) 1 they will come trembling out of their dens; 1 they shall be afraid of Hashem Eloheinu, 1 and shall turn in fear because of Thee. 1
Mee El kamocha (Who is a G-d like unto Thee), removing avon, 1 and passing over peysha of the She'erit of His Nachalah? Hashem retaineth not His anger forever, 1 because He delighteth in chesed. 1
He will turn again; He will have compassion upon us; 1 He will subdue avonoteinu (our iniquities); 1 and tashlich (thou wilt cast, throw) 1 all their sins into the depths of the yam. 1
Thou wilt give emes to Ya'akov, 1 and chesed to Avraham, 1 as Thou hast sworn unto avoteinu from days of long ago.
