Isaiah 53
1Who 2 To whom has the LORD’s arm been revealed? 1
2For 2 and as a root out of dry ground. 1 He has no good looks or majesty. 2 When we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 1
3He 2 and rejected by men, 1 a man of suffering 2 and acquainted with disease. 1 He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; 2 and we didn’t respect him. 1
4Surely 2 and carried our suffering; 1 yet we considered him plagued, 2 struck by God, and afflicted. 1
5But 2 He was crushed for our iniquities. 1 The punishment that brought our peace was on him; 2 and by his wounds we are healed. 1
6All 2 Everyone has turned to his own way; 2 and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 1
7He 2 yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. 1 As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, 2 and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, 2 so he didn’t open his mouth. 1
8He 2 As for his generation, 2 who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living 2 and stricken for the disobedience of my people? 1
9They 2 and with a rich man in his death, 1 although he had done no violence, 2 nor was any deceit in his mouth. 1
10Yet 2 He has caused him to suffer. 1 When you make his soul an offering for sin, 2 he will see his offspring. 1 He will prolong his days 2 and the LORD’s pleasure will prosper in his hand. 1
11After 2 he will see the light + 53:11 So read the Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint. Masoretic Text omits “the light”. and be satisfied. 1 My righteous servant will justify many by the knowledge of himself; 2 and he will bear their iniquities. 1
12Therefore 2 He will divide the plunder with the strong, 1 because he poured out his soul to death 2 and was counted with the transgressors; 1 yet he bore the sins of many 2 and made intercession for the transgressors.
