Psalms 55
1Listen to 2 Don’t hide yourself from my supplication. 1
2Attend to 2 I am restless in my complaint, 2 and moan
3because of 2 because of the oppression of the wicked. 1 For they bring suffering on me. 2 In anger they hold a grudge against me. 1
4My 2 The terrors of death have fallen on me. 1
5Fearfulness and 2 Horror has overwhelmed me. 1
6I said, “Oh that I had wings like a 2 Then I would fly away, and be at rest. 1
7Behold, then 2 I would lodge in the wilderness.” Selah. 1

9Confuse them 2 for I have seen violence and strife in the city. 1
10Day and 2 Malice and abuse are also within her. 1
11Destructive forces are 2 Threats and lies don’t depart from her streets. 1
12For 2 then I could have endured it. 1 Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me, 2 then I would have hidden myself from him. 1
13But 2 my companion, and my familiar friend. 1
14We took 2 We walked in God’s house with company. 1
15Let 2 Let them go down alive into Sheol. + 55:15 Sheol is the place of the dead. 2 For wickedness is among them, in their dwelling. 1
16As 2 Yahweh will save me. 1
17Evening, morning, and 2 He will hear my voice. 1
18He 2 although there are many who oppose me. 1
19God, who 2 will hear and answer them. Selah. 1 They never change 2 and don’t fear God. 1
20He 2 He has violated his covenant. 1
21His 2 but his heart was war. 1 His words were softer than oil, 2 yet they were drawn swords. 1
22Cast your 2 He will never allow the righteous to be moved. 1
23But 2 Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days, 2 but I will trust in you.
