Psalms 78

1Hear my 2 Turn your ears to the words of my mouth. 1

2I 2 I will utter dark sayings of old, 1

3which 2 and our fathers have told us. 1

4We 2 telling to the generation to come the praises of Yahweh, 2 his strength, and his wondrous deeds that he has done. 1

5For 2 and appointed a teaching in Israel, 2 which he commanded our fathers, 2 that they should make them known to their children; 1

6that 2 who should arise and tell their children, 1

7that 2 and not forget God’s deeds, 2 but keep his commandments, 1

8and 2 a stubborn and rebellious generation, 2 a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, 2 whose spirit was not steadfast with God. 1

9The 2 turned back in the day of battle. 1

10They 2 and refused to walk in his law. 1

11They 2 his wondrous deeds that he had shown them. 1

12He 2 in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. 1

13He 2 He made the waters stand as a heap. 1

14In 2 and all night with a light of fire. 1

15He 2 and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths. 1

16He 2 and caused waters to run down like rivers. 1

20Behold 2 and streams overflowed. 1 Can he give bread also? 2 Will he provide meat for his people?” 1

21Therefore 2 A fire was kindled against Jacob, 2 anger also went up against Israel, 1

22because 2 and didn’t trust in his salvation. 1

23Yet he 2 and opened the doors of heaven. 1

24He 2 and gave them food from the sky. 1

25Man ate the 2 He sent them food to the full. 1

26He 2 By his power he guided the south wind. 1

27He 2 winged birds as the sand of the seas. 1

28He 2 around their habitations. 1

31when 2 killed some of their strongest, 2 and struck down the young men of Israel. 1

32For 2 and didn’t believe in his wondrous works. 1

33Therefore he 2 and their years in terror. 1

34When 2 They returned and sought God earnestly. 1

35They 2 the Most High God, their redeemer. 1

36But they 2 and lied to him with their tongue. 1

37For 2 neither were they faithful in his covenant. 1

38But 2 Yes, many times he turned his anger away, 2 and didn’t stir up all his wrath. 1

39He 2 a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again. 1

40How 2 and grieved him in the desert! 1

41They 2 and provoked the Holy One of Israel. 1

42They 2 nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary; 1

43how he 2 his wonders in the field of Zoan, 1

44he 2 and their streams, so that they could not drink. 1

45He 2 and frogs, which destroyed them. 1

46He 2 and their labor to the locust. 1

47He destroyed 2 their sycamore fig trees with frost. 1

48He also 2 and their flocks to hot thunderbolts. 1

49He 2 wrath, indignation, and trouble, 2 and a band of angels of evil. 1

50He 2 He didn’t spare their soul from death, 2 but gave their life over to the pestilence, 1

51and 2 the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham. 1

52But 2 and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. 1

53He 2 but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. 1

54He 2 to this mountain, which his right hand had taken. 1

55He 2 allotted them for an inheritance by line, 2 and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents. 1

56Yet 2 and didn’t keep his testimonies, 1

57but turned 2 They were twisted like a deceitful bow. 1

58For 2 and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images. 1

59When 2 and greatly abhorred Israel, 1

60so that 2 the tent which he placed among men, 1

61and 2 his glory into the adversary’s hand. 1

62He 2 and was angry with his inheritance. 1

63Fire devoured their 2 Their virgins had no wedding song. 1

64Their 2 and their widows couldn’t weep. 1

65Then the Lord awakened 2 like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine. 1

66He 2 He put them to a perpetual reproach. 1

67Moreover he 2 and didn’t choose the tribe of Ephraim, 1

68But chose the 2 Mount Zion which he loved. 1

69He 2 like the earth which he has established forever. 1

70He 2 and took him from the sheepfolds; 1

71from 2 he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, 2 and Israel, his inheritance. 1

72So he 2 and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
