Hosea 5
Hear ye this, O kohanim; 1 and pay heed, ye Bais Yisroel; 1 and give ye ear, O Bais HaMelech; 1 for hamishpat (the judgment) is against you, 1 because ye have been a pach (snare, bird trap) at Mitzpah, 1 and a reshet (net) spread upon Tavor. 1
And the revolters have deepened their slaughter, 1 and I will be musar (punishment) + 5:2 see regarding Moshiach, Isa 53:5 of them all. 1
I know Ephrayim, 1 and Yisroel is not hid from Me; 1 for now, O Ephrayim, thou committest whoredom, 1 and Yisroel is tameh (unclean, defiled). 1
Their doings do not permit them to turn unto Eloheihem; 1 for the ruach zenunim is in the midst of them, 1 and they have not known Hashem. 1
And the ga'on Yisroel (pride of Yisroel) doth testify to his face; 1 therefore shall Yisroel and Ephrayim stumble and fall in their avon (iniquity); 1 Yehudah also shall fall with them. 1
They shall go with their flocks 1 and with their herds to seek Hashem; 1 but they shall not find Him; 1 He hath withdrawn Himself from them. 1
They have dealt treacherously against Hashem; 1 for they have begotten banim zarim (strange, illegitimate children); 1 now shall a [Rosh] Chodesh devour them with their fields. 1
Blow ye the shofar in Giv'ah, and the trumpet in Ramah; 1 cry aloud at Beit-Aven; after thee, O Binyamin! 1
Ephrayim shall be desolate in the Yom Tokheichah (Day of Rebuke): 1 among the Shivtei Yisroel have I made known that which is certain. 1
The sarim (princes) of Yehudah were like them that remove the gevul (boundary stone); 1 therefore I will pour out My wrath upon them like mayim. 1
Ephrayim is oppressed and crushed in mishpat (judgment), 1 because he willingly walked after tzav (human statute). + 5:11 Isa 28:10,13 1
Therefore will I be unto Ephrayim like maggots, 1 and to the Bais Yehudah like rottenness. 1
When Ephrayim saw his sickness, 1 and Yehudah saw his sores, 1 then went Ephrayim to the Assyrian, 1 and sent to the great king; 1 yet he was not able to heal you, 1 nor cure you of your wound. 1
For I will be unto Ephrayim like a lion, 1 and as a great lion to the Bais Yehudah; 1 I, even I, will tear and go away; 1 I will carry off, and there will be no one rescuing. 1
I will go and return to My place, 1 till they acknowledge their guilt, and seek My face; 1 in their tzar (affliction, distress) they will beg My favor.
