Hosea 7
1when I would have healed Yisroel, 1 then the avon (iniquity) of Ephrayim was exposed, 1 and the ra'ot (crimes) of Shomron; 1 for they practice sheker; 1 and the ganav intrudes, 1 and the bandit robs bachutz (in the street). 1
2And they consider not in their levavot 1 that I remember all their ra'ah; 1 now their own evil doings surround them; 1 they are before My face. 1
3They make the Melech glad with their ra'ah, 1 and the sarim (princes) with their lies. 1
4They are all no'afim (adulterers), 1 as an oven heated by the baker, 1 who ceaseth stirring from the kneading of the batzek (dough), 1 until its chametz leavening rises. 1
5In the Yom Malkeinu 1 the sarim (princes) have made him sick with the heat of yayin; 1 he has stretched out his hand with the letzim (mockers). 1
6For they have made ready their lev 1 like an oven, while they lie in wait; 1 their anger smolders kol halailah; 1 in the boker it burneth like an eish of flame. 1
7They are all hot as an oven, 1 and have devoured their shofetim; 1 all their melachim are fallen; 1 there is none among them that calleth unto Me. 1
8Ephrayim, he hath mixed himself among the people; 1 Ephrayim is a flat cake not turned over. 1
9Zarim have devoured his ko'ach, 1 and he knoweth it not; 1 yea, gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, 1 yet he hath no da'as. 1
10And the ga'on Yisroel testifieth to his face; 1 and they do not return to Hashem Eloheihem, 1 nor seek Him for all this. 1
11Ephrayim also is like an easily deceived yonah without sense; 1 they call to Mitzrayim, 1 they turn to Assyria. 1
12When they shall go, I will spread My reshet (net) upon them; 1 I will bring them down as the fowls of Shomayim; 1 I will chastise them, when I hear them congregating. 1
13Woe unto them! For they have strayed from Me. 1 Sod (destruction) unto them because they have committed pesha against Me! 1 Though I would redeem them, 1 yet they have spoken kazav (lies) against Me. 1
14And they have not cried unto Me with their levavot, 1 when they wailed upon their beds; 1 they congregate themselves for dagan and tirosh, 1 and they depart from Me. 1
15Though I have trained and strengthened their zero'ot (arms), 1 yet do they plot rah against Me. 1
16They return, but not to Most High; 1 they are like a faulty keshet; 1 their sarim (princes) shall fall by the cherev 1 for the insolence of their leshon; 1 this shall be their derision in Eretz Mitzrayim.
