Proverbs 11
1A balance of mirmah (dishonesty, deception) is abomination to Hashem, 1 but an even shelemah (perfect stone, just weight) is His ratzon. 1
2When zadon (pride) cometh, then cometh kalon (shame, disgrace), 1 but with the humble is chochmah. 1
3The integrity of the yesharim (upright ones) shall guide them, 1 but the deceit of the bogedim (treacherous ones) shall destroy them. 1
4Hon (riches) profit not in the yom evrah (day of wrath), 1 but tzedakah (righteousness) delivereth from mavet. 1
5The tzidkat tamim (righteousness of the blameless) shall make his derech straight, 1 but the rasha shall fall by his own evil. 1
6The tzidkat yesharim shall deliver them, 1 but bogedim (treacherous ones) shall be caught in their own evil desire. 1
7At the mot adam rasha, his tikveh shall perish, 1 and the expectation of his + 11:7 surviving strong ones perisheth. 1
8The tzaddik is delivered out of tzoros, 1 but the rashah cometh on to take his place. 1
9A chanef (hypocrite, man without G-d) with his peh (mouth) destroyeth his re'a, 1 but through da'as (knowledge) shall the tzaddikim be delivered. 1
10When it goeth well with the tzaddikim, the city rejoiceth, 1 and when the resha'im perish, there is rinnah (joyful shouting). 1
11By the birkat yesharim the city is exalted, 1 but it is overthrown by the peh (mouth) of the resha'im. 1
12He that is devoid of lev + 11:12 of understanding despiseth his re'a, 1 but an ish tevunot holdeth his peace. 1
13A bringer of rekhil (gossip), + 11:13 rekhilut revealeth sod (secrets, confidences), 1 but he that is of a ne'eman ruach concealeth the matter. 1
14Where no strategic policy is, the nation falls, 1 but in the multitude of yoetz (counsellors, advisors) there is teshu'ah (victory, safety). 1
15He that is guaranty for a zar shall suffer for it, 1 and he that hateth pledging collateral is secure. 1
16An eshet chen retaineth kavod (honor, respect), 1 but ruthless men retain osher. 1
17The ish chesed (merciful man) doeth good to his own nefesh, 1 but he that is cruel harmeth his own self. 1
18The reshah worketh a wage of sheker, 1 but to him that soweth tzedakah (righteousness) shall be a sachar emes (sure reward). 1
19As tzedakah (righteousness) leadeth to Chayyim, 1 so he that pursueth ra'ah pursueth it to his own mot (death). 1
20They that are of a perverse lev are an abomination to Hashem, 1 but such as are upright in their derech are His delight. 1
21Though yad join in yad, 1 rah shall not go unpunished, 1 but the zera of the tzaddikim shall be delivered. 1
22As a ring of zahav in the snout of a chazir, 1 so is an isha yafah which is without ta'am (judgment, discretion). 1
23The ta'avat tzaddikim is only tov, 1 but the tikveh of the resha'im is wrath. 1
24There is that which scattereth, and yet increaseth more; 1 and there is that which withholdeth more than is yosher, but it leadeth to machsor (want, need, poverty). 1
25The nefesh berakhah (generous person) shall be made to prosper, 1 and he that watereth shall be refreshed also himself. 1
26He that withholdeth grain, the people shall curse him, 1 but brocha shall be upon the head of him that selleth it. 1
27He that diligently seeketh tov procureth ratzon, 1 but he that seeketh ra'ah, it shall come unto him. 1
28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; 1 but the tzaddik shall flourish like the green leaf. 1
29He that troubleth his own bais shall inherit the ruach (wind), 1 and the fool shall be eved to the chacham lev. 1
30The p'ri tzedek is Etz Chayyim, 1 and he that winneth nefashot is chacham (wise). 1
31If the tzaddik are recompensed on ha'aretz (the earth), 1 much more the rashah and the choteh (sinner).
