Proverbs 3

Beni (my son), forget not my torah; 1 but let thine lev keep my mitzvot; 1

For orekh yamim (length of days), and shnot chayyim, 1 and shalom, shall they add to thee. 1

Let not chesed and emes forsake thee; 1 bind them about thy neck; 1 write them upon the luach (tablet) of thine lev; 1

So shalt thou find chen and seichel tov 1 in the eyes of Elohim and adam. 1

Trust in Hashem with all thine lev, 1 and lean not unto thine own binah (understanding). 1

In all thy drakhim acknowledge Him, 1 and He shall make yosher thy orkhot (paths). 1

Be not chacham in thine own eyes; 1 fear Hashem, and depart from rah. 1

It shall be rife'ut (health) to thy navel, 1 and marrow to thy atzmot. 1

Honor Hashem with thy substance, 1 and with the reshit (firstfruit) of all thine increase; 1

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, 1 and thy vats shall burst out with tirosh. 1

Beni (my son), despise not the musar Hashem; 1 neither be weary of His tokhakhah (reproof); 1

For whom Hashem loveth, He correcteth; 1 even as an av the ben in whom he delighteth. 1

Ashrei (happy) is the man that findeth chochmah, 1 and the man that getteth tevunah (understanding). 1

For the gain of it is better than the gain of kesef, 1 and the increase thereof than fine gold. 1

She is more precious than peninim (pearls); 1 and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 1

Orekh yamim is in her right hand; 1 and in her left hand osher and kavod. 1

Her drakhim are drakhim of pleasantness, 1 and all her netivot (trodden paths) are shalom. 1

She is an Etz Chayyim (Tree of Life) to them that lay hold upon her; 1 and me'usher (blessed) is every one that holdeth her fast. 1

Hashem by chochmah hath founded Eretz (Earth); 1 by tevunah (understanding) hath He established Shomayim. 1

By His da'as (knowledge) the tehomot (oceanic depths) were divided, 1 and the clouds drop down the tal (dew). 1

Beni (my son), let not them depart from thine eyes; 1 keep sound judgment and mezimah (discretion); 1

So shall they be chayyim unto thy nefesh, 1 and chen to thy neck. 1

Then shalt thou walk in thy derech safely, 1 and thy regel shall not stumble. 1

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid; 1 when thou liest down, thy sheynah (sleep) shall be sweet. 1

Be not afraid of sudden pachad (terror), 1 neither of the desolation of the resha'im (wicked ones), when it cometh. 1

For Hashem shall be thy confidence, 1 and shall be shomer over thy regel from the snare. 1

Withhold not tov from them to whom it is due, 1 when it is in the power of thine yad to do it. 1

Say not unto thy neighbor: 1 Go, and come again, 1 and makhar (tomorrow) I will give; 1 when thou hast it by thee. 1

Devise not ra'ah against thy re'a, 1 seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. 1

Strive not with adam without cause, 1 if he have done thee no ra'ah. 1

Envy thou not the ish chamas, 1 and choose none of his drakhim. 1

For the perverse person is to'avat (detestable) to Hashem; 1 but His sod (secret, intimate counsel) is with the yesharim (upright ones). 1

The curse of Hashem is in the bais of the rasha; 1 but He puts a bracha on the dwelling of the tzaddikim. 1

Surely He scorneth the scorners; 1 but He giveth chen (grace, favor) unto the anayim (lowly, humble ones). 1

The chachamim shall inherit kavod, 1 but shame shall be the promotion of kesilim (fools).
