Proverbs 9
1Chochmah hath built her bais, 1 she hath hewn out her seven ammudim; 1
2She hath prepared her meat; 1 she hath mixed her yayin; she hath also set her shulchan. 1
3She hath sent forth her na'arot; 1 she calleth from the highest points of the city; 1
4Whosoever is simple, let him turn in here; 1 as for him that lacketh lev (a heart of understanding), she saith to him, 1
5Come, eat of my lechem, 1 and drink of the yayin which I have mixed. + 9:5 Yn 6:53-54 1
6Forsake the simple ways, and live; 1 and go in the derech binah. 1
7He that reproveth a letz (mocker) getteth to himself shame, 1 and he that is a mochiach (reprover) of a wicked man getteth himself a blot stain. 1
8Reprove not a letz, lest he hate thee; 1 rebuke a chacham, and he will love thee. 1
9Give instruction to a chacham, and he will be yet wiser; 1 teach a tzaddik, and he will increase in learning. 1
10The Yirat Hashem is the beginning of chochmah, 1 and the da'as Kedoshim (knowledge of the Holy One) is binah (understanding). 1
11For by me thy yamim shall be multiplied, 1 and shanot chayyim shall be increased to thee. 1
12If thou be chacham, thou shalt be wise for thyself, 1 but if thou mockest, thou alone shalt suffer. 1
13Aishes Kesilut (Dame Folly) is clamorous; 1 she is simple, and knoweth nothing. 1
14For she sitteth at the petach (doorway) of her bais, 1 on a seat in the high places of the city, 1
15To call those passing on the derech (road) 1 who go straight on their way: 1
16Whoso is simple, let him turn in here, 1 and as for him that lacketh lev (heart of understanding), she saith to him: 1
17Stolen waters are sweet, 1 and lechem eaten in secret is pleasant. 1
18But he has no da'as that the dead ones are there; 1 and that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
