Proverbs 16
1The plans of the lev belong to adam, 1 and the answer of the lashon is from Hashem. 1
2All the drakhei ish are pure in his own eynayim, 1 but Hashem weigheth the ruchot. 1
3Commit thy ma'asim (works) unto Hashem, 1 and thy plans shall be established. 1
4Hashem works out all things for Himself, 1 indeed, even the rasha (wicked) for the Yom Ra'ah (day of evil). 1
5Every one that is proud in lev 1 is to'evat Hashem; 1 though yad join in yad, he shall not go unpunished. 1
6By chesed and emes avon is purged, 1 and by the Yirat Hashem men depart from rah. 1
7When drakhei ish please Hashem, 1 He maketh even his oyevim to be in shalom with him. 1
8Better is a little with tzedakah 1 than great revenues without mishpat (justice). 1
9The lev adam plans his derech, 1 but Hashem directeth his steps. 1
10A kesem (oracle) is on the sfatayim (lips) of Melech, 1 his peh (mouth) must not betray mishpat. 1
11A just weight and balance are Hashemʼs, 1 all the weights of the bag are His concern. 1
12It is to'evat melachim to commit resha (wickedness), 1 for the kisse is established through tzedakah. 1
13Sfatayim (lips) of tzedek are the delight of melachim; 1 and they love him that speaketh yesharim (upright things). 1
14The wrath of a melech is as malachim of mavet, 1 but an ish chacham will appease it. 1
15In the light of the countenance of melech is chayyim, 1 and his favor is like the cloud of a spring rain. 1
16How much better is it to acquire chochmah than gold, 1 and acquiring binah (understanding) a better choice than kesef! 1
17The mesilat yesharim (highway of the upright) 1 is to depart from rah; 1 he that guards his derech is shomer over his nefesh (soul). 1
18Ga'on (pride) goeth before shever (destruction), 1 and a ruach of haughtiness before a fall. 1
19Better it is to be of a humble ruach among the anayim, 1 than to divide the plunder with the proud. 1
20He that wisely heeds the Davar shall find tov (good), 1 and he who trusteth in Hashem, happy is he. 1
21The chacham lev shall be called prudent, 1 and the sweetness of the sfatayim (lips) adds to learning. 1
22Seichel is a Makor Chayyim unto him that hath it, 1 but the musar (instruction, discipline) of fools is folly. 1
23The lev chacham guides his peh (mouth), 1 and addeth learning to his sfatayim (lips). 1
24Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, 1 sweet to the nefesh, and marpeh (healing) to the atzmot (bones). 1
25There is a derech that seemeth yashar (right) before an ish, 1 but its acharit (future, latter end) is the drakhei mavet. 1
26The nefesh (appetite) of the laborer works for him, 1 for his peh (mouth) of hunger driveth him on. 1
27An ish Beliya'al diggeth up ra'ah, 1 and in his sfatayim (lips) there is as a scorching eish. 1
28A perverse ish soweth madon (strife, dissension), 1 and a whisperer separateth close friends. 1
29An ish chamas enticeth his re'a, 1 and leadeth him into the derech that is not good. 1
30He winking his eynayim to plot perverse things, 1 compressing his sfatayim (lips), 1 bringeth ra'ah to pass. 1
31The silvery hair is an ateret tiferet; 1 it is found in the derech tzedakah. 1
32He that is slow to anger 1 is better than the gibbor; 1 and he that ruleth his ruach 1 than he that captures a city. 1
33The goral is cast into the kheyk (lap), 1 but the whole decision thereof is from Hashem.
