Proverbs 30

The devarim of Agur Ben Yakeh, even the massa; the gever (man) spoke unto Itiel, even unto Itiel and Ukhal: 1

Surely I am more stupid than any ish, 1 and have not the binat adam. 1

I neither learned chochmah, 1 nor have the da'as of the Kedoshim. 1

Who hath ascended into Shomayim, or descended? 1 Who hath gathered ruach in the hollows of His hands? 1 Who hath bound the mayim in a cloak? 1 Who hath established all the afsei aretz (ends of the earth)? 1 What is Shmo (His Name), 1 and what is Shem Bno (the Name of His Son ), + 30:4 See Memra, creative Word of G-d in Targumim 1 if thou canst tell? 1

Every word of G-d is flawless; 1 He is a mogen unto them that take refuge in Him. 1

Add thou not unto His devarim, 1 lest He rebuke thee, and thou be found a kazav (liar). 1

Two things have I required of thee; 1 deny me them not before my mot; 1

Remove far from me shav (vanity, falsehood) and davar kazav (word of a liar); 1 give me neither poverty nor osher; 1 feed me lechem chukki (my daily bread); 1

Lest I be full, and deny Thee, 1 and say, Who is Hashem? 1 Or lest I be poor, and become a ganav, 1 and profane the Shem of Elohai. 1

Do not slander an eved unto his adon, 1 lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. 1

There is a dor (generation) that curseth its av, 1 and doth not make a bracha on its em. 1

There is a dor (generation) that is tahor (pure) in its own eynayim, 1 and yet is not washed from its filthiness. 1

There is a dor (generation), O how haughty in loftiness are their eynayim! 1 And their eyelids are proudly lifted up. 1

There is a dor (generation), whose teeth are as charavot (swords), 1 and their jaw teeth are as knives, 1 to devour the aniyim (oppressed poor ones) from off ha'aretz, 1 and the evyonim (needy ones) from among adam. 1

The leech hath two banot: Give! Give! 1 There are shalosh (three) that are never satisfied, 1 indeed, four things never say, Enough! 1

Sheol, and the barren womb; 1 eretz that is never satisfied with mayim; 1 and eish that saith not, Enough! 1

The ayin (eye) that mocketh at av, 1 and scorneth to obey em, 1 the ravens of the valley shall peck it out, 1 and the bnei nesher shall eat it. 1

There are shalosh which are too wonderful for me, 1 indeed, four which I understand not; 1

The derech hanesher (way of the eagle) in the sky; 1 the derech nachash upon a tzur (rock); 1 the derech oniyah (way of a sailing vessel) in the midst of the yam (sea); 1 and the derech gever (way of a man) with an almah (unmarried young virgin). + 30:19 See Gn 24:16,43,63-65 1

Such is the derech isha mena'efet (way of an adulterous woman): 1 she eateth, and wipeth her peh (mouth), 1 and saith, I have done no wrong. 1

For shalosh the eretz is disquieted, 1 and for four which it cannot bear: 1

For an eved (slave) when he reigneth; 1 and a naval (fool) when he is full with lechem; 1

For an unloved woman when she is married; 1 and a shifchah that displaces her gevirah (lady, mistress). 1

There are four things which are little upon eretz, 1 but they are exceeding chachamim: 1

The nemalim (ants) are an am (people) not strong, 1 yet they store up their lechem in the kayitz (summer); 1

The badgers are but a feeble folk, 1 yet they make their bais in the rocks; 1

The arbeh (locusts) have no melech, 1 yet they go forth all of them in ranks; 1

The lizard can be held in the hands, 1 yet is in heikhelot (palaces) of a melech. 1

There are shloshah which are majestic in stride, 1 indeed, four are stately in walk: 1

A lion which is gibbor among behemah (beasts), 1 and retreateth not from any; 1

The strutting rooster; the he-goat also; 1 and a melech, when his army is with him. 1

If thou hast done foolishly in exalting thyself, 1 or if thou hast devised rah, lay thine yad upon thy peh. 1

Surely the churning of cholov (milk) bringeth forth khemah (butter), 1 and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth dahm; 1 so the stirring up of anger bringeth forth strife.
