Job 16

1Then 1

2I 1 Miserable comforters are ye all. 1

3Shall 1 Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest? 1

4I 1 If your soul were in my soul’s stead, 1 I could join words together against you, 1 And shake my head at you. 1

5But I would strengthen you 1 And the solace of my lips would assuage your grief. 2

6Though I 1 And though I forbear, what am I eased? 1

7But 1 Thou hast made desolate all my company. 1

8And 1 And my leanness riseth up against me, 1 It testifieth to my face. 1

9He 1 He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: 1 Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me. 1

10They 1 They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: 1 They gather themselves together against me. 1

11God 1 And casteth me into the hands of the wicked. 1

12I 1 Yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: 1 He hath also set me up for his mark. 1

13His 1 He cleaveth my kidneys asunder, and doth not spare; 1 He poureth out my gall upon the ground. 1

14He 1 He runneth upon me like a giant. 1

15I 1 And have laid my horn in the dust. 1

16My 1 And on my eyelids is the shadow of death; 1

17Although 1 And my prayer is pure. 2

18O 1 And let my cry have no resting place. 1

19Even 1 And he that voucheth for me is on high. 1

20My friends 1 But mine eye poureth out tears unto God, 1

21That 1 And of a son of man with his neighbor! 1

22For 1 I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
