Proverbs 19
1Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, 1 Than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. 1
2Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; 1 And he that hasteth with his feet, sinneth. 1
3The foolishness of man perverteth his way: 1 And his heart fretteth against the Lord. 1
4Wealth maketh many friends; 1 But the poor is separated from his neighbour. 1
5A false witness shall not be unpunished, 1 And he that speaketh lies shall not escape. 1
6Many will intreat the favour of the prince: 1 And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. 1
7All the brethren of the poor do hate him: 1 How much more do his friends go far from him! 1 He pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him. 1
8He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: 1 He that keepeth understanding shall find good. 1
9A false witness shall not be unpunished, 1 And he that speaketh lies shall perish. 1
10Delight is not seemly for a fool; 1 Much less for a servant to have rule over princes. 1
11The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; 1 And it is his glory to pass over a transgression. 1
12The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; 1 But his favour is as dew upon the grass. 1
13A foolish son is the calamity of his father: 1 And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. 1
14House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: 1 And a prudent wife is from the Lord. 1
15Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; 1 And an idle soul shall suffer hunger. 1
16He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; 1 But he that despiseth his ways shall die. 1
17He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; 1 And that which he hath given will he pay him again. 1
18Chasten thy son while there is hope, 1 And let not thy soul spare for his crying. 1
19A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: 1 For if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again. 1
20Hear counsel, and receive instruction, 1 That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. 1
21There are many devices in a man’s heart; 1 Nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. 1
22The desire of a man is his kindness: 1 And a poor man is better than a liar. 1
23The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: 1 And he that hath it shall abide satisfied; 1 He shall not be visited with evil. 1
24A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, 1 And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. 1
25Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: 1 And reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge. 1
26He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, 1 Is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach. 1
27Cease, my son, to hear the instruction 1 That causeth to err from the words of knowledge. 1
28An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: 1 And the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity. 1
29Judgments are prepared for scorners, 1 And stripes for the back of fools.
