Proverbs 8
Doth not wisdom cry? 1 And understanding put forth her voice? 1
She standeth in the top of high places by the way, 1 In the places of the paths. 1
She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, 1 At the coming in at the doors. 1
Unto you, O men, I call; 1 And my voice is to the sons of man. 1
O ye simple, understand wisdom: 1 And, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. 1
Hear, for I will speak of excellent things; 1 And the opening of my lips shall be right things. 1
For my mouth shall speak truth; 1 And wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 1
All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; 1 There is nothing froward or perverse in them. 1
They are all plain to him that understandeth, 1 And right to them that find knowledge. 1
Receive my instruction, and not silver; 1 And knowledge rather than choice gold. 1
For wisdom is better than rubies; 1 And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. 1
I wisdom dwell with prudence, 1 And find out knowledge of witty inventions. 1
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: 1 Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, 1 And the froward mouth, do I hate. 1
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: 1 I am understanding; I have strength. 1
By me kings reign, 1 And princes decree justice. 1
By me princes rule, 1 And nobles, even all the judges of the earth. 1
I love them that love me; 1 And those that seek me early shall find me. 1
Riches and honour are with me; 1 Yea, durable riches and righteousness. 1
My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; 1 And my revenue than choice silver. 1
I lead in the way of righteousness, 1 In the midst of the paths of judgment: 1
That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; 1 And I will fill their treasures. 1
The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, 1 Before his works of old. 1
I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, 1 Or ever the earth was. 1
When there were no depths, I was brought forth; 1 When there were no fountains abounding with water. 1
Before the mountains were settled, 1 Before the hills was I brought forth: 1
While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, 1 Nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 1
When he prepared the heavens, I was there: 1 When he set a compass upon the face of the depth: 1
When he established the clouds above: 1 When he strengthened the fountains of the deep: 1
When he gave to the sea his decree, 1 That the waters should not pass his commandment; 1 When he appointed the foundations of the earth: 1
Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: 1 And I was daily his delight, 1 Rejoicing always before him; 1
Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; 1 And my delights were with the sons of men. 1
Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: 1 For blessed are they that keep my ways. 1
Hear instruction, and be wise, 1 And refuse it not. 1
Blessed is the man that heareth me, 1 Watching daily at my gates, 1 Waiting at the posts of my doors. 1
For whoso findeth me findeth life, 1 And shall obtain favour of the Lord. 1
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: 1 All they that hate me love death.
