Proverbs 24
1Be not thou envious against evil men, 1 Neither desire to be with them. 1
2For their heart studieth destruction, 1 And their lips talk of mischief. 1
3Through wisdom is a house builded; 1 And by understanding it is established: 1
4And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled 1 With all precious and pleasant riches. 1
5A wise man is strong; 1 Yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. 1
6For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: 1 And in multitude of counsellers there is safety. 1
7Wisdom is too high for a fool: 1 He openeth not his mouth in the gate. 1
8He that deviseth to do evil 1 Shall be called a mischievous person. 1
9The thought of foolishness is sin: 1 And the scorner is an abomination to men. 1
10If thou faint in the day of adversity, 1 Thy strength is small. 1
11If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, 1 And those that are ready to be slain; 1
12If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; 1 Doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? 1 And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? 1 And shall not he render to every man according to his works? 1
13My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; 1 And the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: 1
14So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: 1 When thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, 1 And thy expectation shall not be cut off. 1
15Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; 1 Spoil not his resting place: 1
16For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: 1 But the wicked shall fall into mischief. 1
17Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, 1 And let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 1
18Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, 1 And he turn away his wrath from him. 1
19Fret not thyself because of evil men, 1 Neither be thou envious at the wicked; 1
20For there shall be no reward to the evil man; 1 The candle of the wicked shall be put out. 1
21My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: 1 And meddle not with them that are given to change: 1
22For their calamity shall rise suddenly; 1 And who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23These things also belong to the wise. 1 It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment. 1
24He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; 1 Him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: 1
25But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, 1 And a good blessing shall come upon them. 1
26Every man shall kiss his lips 1 That giveth a right answer. 1
27Prepare thy work without, 1 And make it fit for thyself in the field; 1 And afterwards build thine house. 1
28Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; 1 And deceive not with thy lips. 1
29Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: 1 I will render to the man according to his work. 1
30I went by the field of the slothful, 1 And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; 1
31And lo, it was all grown over with thorns, 1 And nettles had covered the face thereof, 1 And the stone wall thereof was broken down. 1
32Then I saw, and considered it well: 1 I looked upon it, and received instruction. 1
33Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, 1 A little folding of the hands to sleep: 1
34So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; 1 And thy want as an armed man.
