Proverbs 3
1My son, forget not my law; 1 But let thine heart keep my commandments: 1
2For length of days, and long life, 1 And peace, shall they add to thee. 1
3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: 1 Bind them about thy neck; 1 Write them upon the table of thine heart: 1
4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding 1 In the sight of God and man. 1
5Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; 1 And lean not unto thine own understanding. 1
6In all thy ways acknowledge him, 1 And he shall direct thy paths. 1
7Be not wise in thine own eyes: 1 Fear the Lord, and depart from evil. 1
8It shall be health to thy navel, 1 And marrow to thy bones. 1
9Honour the Lord with thy substance, 1 And with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 1
10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, 1 And thy presses shall burst out with new wine. 1
11My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; 1 Neither be weary of his correction: 1
12For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; 1 Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. 1
13Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, 1 And the man that getteth understanding. 1
14For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, 1 And the gain thereof than fine gold. 1
15She is more precious than rubies: 1 And all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 1
16Length of days is in her right hand; 1 And in her left hand riches and honour. 1
17Her ways are ways of pleasantness, 1 And all her paths are peace. 1
18She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: 1 And happy is every one that retaineth her. 1
19The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; 1 By understanding hath he established the heavens. 1
20By his knowledge the depths are broken up, 1 And the clouds drop down the dew. 1
21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: 1 Keep sound wisdom and discretion: 1
22So shall they be life unto thy soul, 1 And grace to thy neck. 1
23Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, 1 And thy foot shall not stumble. 1
24When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: 1 Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 1
25Be not afraid of sudden fear, 1 Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 1
26For the Lord shall be thy confidence, 1 And shall keep thy foot from being taken. 1
27Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, 1 When it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 1
28Say not unto thy neighbour, 1 Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; 1 When thou hast it by thee. 1
29Devise not evil against thy neighbour, 1 Seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. 1
30Strive not with a man without cause, 1 If he have done thee no harm. 1
31Envy thou not the oppressor, 1 And choose none of his ways. 1
32For the froward is abomination to the Lord: 1 But his secret is with the righteous. 1
33The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: 1 But he blesseth the habitation of the just. 1
34Surely he scorneth the scorners: 1 But he giveth grace unto the lowly. 1
35The wise shall inherit glory: 1 But shame shall be the promotion of fools.
