Proverbs 21
1The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: 1 He turneth it whithersoever he will. 1
2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: 1 But the Lord pondereth the hearts. 1
3To do justice and judgment 1 Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. 1
4A high look, and a proud heart, 1 And the plowing of the wicked, is sin. 1
5The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; 1 But of every one that is hasty only to want. 1
6The getting of treasures by a lying tongue 1 Is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death. 1
7The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; 1 Because they refuse to do judgment. 1
8The way of man is froward and strange: 1 But as for the pure, his work is right. 1
9It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, 1 Than with a brawling woman in a wide house. 1
10The soul of the wicked desireth evil: 1 His neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes. 1
11When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: 1 And when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge. 1
12The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: 1 But God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness. 1
13Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, 1 He also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. 1
14A gift in secret pacifieth anger: 1 And a reward in the bosom strong wrath. 1
15It is joy to the just to do judgment: 1 But destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. 1
16The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding 1 Shall remain in the congregation of the dead. 1
17He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: 1 He that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich. 1
18The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, 1 And the transgressor for the upright. 1
19It is better to dwell in the wilderness, 1 Than with a contentious and an angry woman. 1
20There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; 1 But a foolish man spendeth it up. 1
21He that followeth after righteousness and mercy 1 Findeth life, righteousness, and honour. 1
22A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, 1 And casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof. 1
23Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue 1 Keepeth his soul from troubles. 1
24Proud and haughty scorner is his name, 1 Who dealeth in proud wrath. 1
25The desire of the slothful killeth him; 1 For his hands refuse to labour. 1
26He coveteth greedily all the day long: 1 But the righteous giveth and spareth not. 1
27The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: 1 How much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind? 1
28A false witness shall perish: 1 But the man that heareth, speaketh constantly. 1
29A wicked man hardeneth his face: 1 But as for the upright, he directeth his way. 1
30There is no wisdom nor understanding 1 Nor counsel against the Lord. 1
31The horse is prepared against the day of battle: 1 But safety is of the Lord.
