Proverbs 30
1The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal. 1
2Surely I am more brutish than any man, 1 And have not the understanding of a man. 1
3I neither learned wisdom, 1 Nor have the knowledge of the holy. 1
4Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? 1 Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? 1 Who hath bound the waters in a garment? 1 Who hath established all the ends of the earth? 1 What is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell? 1
5Every word of God is pure: 1 He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 1
6Add thou not unto his words, 1 Lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. 1
7Two things have I required of thee; 1 Deny me them not before I die: 1
8Remove far from me vanity and lies: 1 Give me neither poverty nor riches; 1 Feed me with food convenient for me: 1
9Lest I be full, and deny thee, 1 And say, Who is the Lord? 1 Or lest I be poor, and steal, 1 And take the name of my God in vain. 1
10Accuse not a servant unto his master, 1 Lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. 1
11There is a generation that curseth their father, 1 And doth not bless their mother. 1
12There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, 1 And yet is not washed from their filthiness. 1
13There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! 1 And their eyelids are lifted up. 1
14There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, 1 And their jaw teeth as knives, 1 To devour the poor from off the earth, 1 And the needy from among men. 1
15The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. 1 There are three things that are never satisfied, 1 Yea, four things say not, It is enough: 1
16The grave; and the barren womb; 1 The earth that is not filled with water; 1 And the fire that saith not, It is enough. 1
17The eye that mocketh at his father, 1 And despiseth to obey his mother, 1 The ravens of the valley shall pick it out, 1 And the young eagles shall eat it. 1
18There be three things which are too wonderful for me, 1 Yea, four which I know not: 1
19The way of an eagle in the air; 1 The way of a serpent upon a rock; 1 The way of a ship in the midst of the sea; 1 And the way of a man with a maid. 1
20Such is the way of an adulterous woman; 1 She eateth, and wipeth her mouth, 1 And saith, I have done no wickedness. 1
21For three things the earth is disquieted, 1 And for four which it cannot bear: 1
22For a servant when he reigneth; 1 And a fool when he is filled with meat; 1
23For an odious woman when she is married; 1 And a handmaid that is heir to her mistress. 1
24There be four things which are little upon the earth, 1 But they are exceeding wise: 1
25The ants are a people not strong, 1 Yet they prepare their meat in the summer; 1
26The conies are but a feeble folk, 1 Yet make they their houses in the rocks; 1
27The locusts have no king, 1 Yet go they forth all of them by bands; 1
28The spider taketh hold with her hands, 1 And is in kings’ palaces. 1
29There be three things which go well, 1 Yea, four are comely in going: 1
30A lion which is strongest among beasts, 1 And turneth not away for any; 1
31A greyhound; a he goat also; 1 And a king, against whom there is no rising up. 1
32If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, 1 Or if thou hast thought evil, 1 Lay thine hand upon thy mouth. 1
33Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, 1 And the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: 1 So the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
