Proverbs 2
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, 1 And hide my commandments with thee; 1
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, 1 And apply thine heart to understanding; 1
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, 1 And liftest up thy voice for understanding; 1
If thou seekest her as silver, 1 And searchest for her as for hid treasures; 1
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, 1 And find the knowledge of God. 1
For the Lord giveth wisdom: 1 Out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 1
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: 1 He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 1
He keepeth the paths of judgment, 1 And preserveth the way of his saints. 1
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, 1 And equity; yea, every good path. 1
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, 1 And knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 1
Discretion shall preserve thee, 1 Understanding shall keep thee: 1
To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, 1 From the man that speaketh froward things; 1
Who leave the paths of uprightness, 1 To walk in the ways of darkness; 1
Who rejoice to do evil, 1 And delight in the frowardness of the wicked; 1
Whose ways are crooked, 1 And they froward in their paths: 1
To deliver thee from the strange woman, 1 Even from the stranger which flattereth with her words; 1
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, 1 And forgetteth the covenant of her God. 1
For her house inclineth unto death, 1 And her paths unto the dead. 1
None that go unto her return again, 1 Neither take they hold of the paths of life. 1
That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, 1 And keep the paths of the righteous. 1
For the upright shall dwell in the land, 1 And the perfect shall remain in it. 1
But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, 1 And the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
