Proverbs 29
1He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, 1 Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. 1
2When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: 1 But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. 1
3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: 1 But he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance. 1
4The king by judgment stablisheth the land: 1 But he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it. 1
5A man that flattereth his neighbour 1 Spreadeth a net for his feet. 1
6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: 1 But the righteous doth sing and rejoice. 1
7The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: 1 But the wicked regardeth not to know it. 1
8Scornful men bring a city into a snare: 1 But wise men turn away wrath. 1
9If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, 1 Whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. 1
10The bloodthirsty hate the upright: 1 But the just seek his soul. 1
11A fool uttereth all his mind: 1 But a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. 1
12If a ruler hearken to lies, 1 All his servants are wicked. 1
13The poor and the deceitful man meet together: 1 The Lord lighteneth both their eyes. 1
14The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, 1 His throne shall be established for ever. 1
15The rod and reproof give wisdom: 1 But a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. 1
16When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: 1 But the righteous shall see their fall. 1
17Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; 1 Yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. 1
18Where there is no vision, the people perish: 1 But he that keepeth the law, happy is he. 1
19A servant will not be corrected by words: 1 For though he understand he will not answer. 1
20Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? 1 There is more hope of a fool than of him. 1
21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child 1 Shall have him become his son at the length. 1
22An angry man stirreth up strife, 1 And a furious man aboundeth in transgression. 1
23A man’s pride shall bring him low: 1 But honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. 1
24Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: 1 He heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not. 1
25The fear of man bringeth a snare: 1 But whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. 1
26Many seek the ruler’s favour; 1 But every man’s judgment cometh from the Lord. 1
27An unjust man is an abomination to the just: 1 And he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
