Proverbs 9
1Wisdom hath builded her house, 1 She hath hewn out her seven pillars: 1
2She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; 1 She hath also furnished her table. 1
3She hath sent forth her maidens: 1 She crieth upon the highest places of the city, 1
4Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: 1 As for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 1
5Come, eat of my bread, 1 And drink of the wine which I have mingled. 1
6Forsake the foolish, and live; 1 And go in the way of understanding. 1
7He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: 1 And he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. 1
8Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: 1 Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 1
9Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: 1 Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. 1
10The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: 1 And the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 1
11For by me thy days shall be multiplied, 1 And the years of thy life shall be increased. 1
12If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: 1 But if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. 1
13A foolish woman is clamorous: 1 She is simple, and knoweth nothing. 1
14For she sitteth at the door of her house, 1 On a seat in the high places of the city, 1
15To call passengers 1 Who go right on their ways: 1
16Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: 1 And as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 1
17Stolen waters are sweet, 1 And bread eaten in secret is pleasant. 1
18But he knoweth not that the dead are there; 1 And that her guests are in the depths of hell.
