Proverbs 17

1Better 1 Than a house full of feasting with strife. 1

2A 1 And shall have part in the inheritance among the brethren. 1

3The 1 But Jehovah trieth the hearts. 1

4An 1 And a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue. 1

5Whoso mocketh 1 And he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished. 1

6Children 1 And the glory of children are their fathers. 1

7Excellent 1 Much less do lying lips a prince. 1

8A 1 Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth. 1

9He 1 But he that harpeth on a matter separateth chief friends. 1

10A 1 Than a hundred stripes into a fool. 1

11An 1 Therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him. 1

12Let a 1 Rather than a fool in his folly. 1

13Whoso rewardeth 1 Evil shall not depart from his house. 1

14The 1 Therefore leave off contention, before there is quarreling. 1

15He 1 Both of them alike are an abomination to Jehovah. 1

16Wherefore 1 Seeing he hath no understanding? 1

17A 1 And a brother is born for adversity. 1

18A 1 And becometh surety in the presence of his neighbor. 1

19He loveth transgression 1 He that raiseth high his gate seeketh destruction. 1

20He 1 And he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief. 1

21He 1 And the father of a fool hath no joy. 1

22A 1 But a broken spirit drieth up the bones. 1

23A 1 To pervert the ways of justice. 1

24Wisdom 1 But the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. 1

25A 1 And bitterness to her that bare him. 1

26Also 1 Nor to smite the noble for their uprightness. 1

27He 1 And he that is of a cool spirit is a man of understanding. 1

28Even 1 When he shutteth his lips, he is esteemed as prudent.
